I have just perchased a new car and the dealer is selling the above product, is this product worth the price and does it proform as advertised or is there a comparable product out there.

Thanks

Don't bother with it. We had it applied on our Corolla back in 1999 (it was cheaper to get one with it, don't ask). Other than making the paint slick for a few weeks, it was nothing special. To me, it's just a inexpensive sealant that is nothing but profit for the dealer. Additionally, the warranty is useless, there are many conditions that must be satisfied before you can make a claim. You also have to have a "supplement" applied every few months or yearly (I forgot the timeframe) for the warranty to be in effect.

Zaino, Klasse, UPP and EX-P are some good examples of commonly used sealants around here that yield excellent results.

I confer. Skip it if at all possible and get something to protect the paint with yourself. This is just a profit maker for the dealer.

^^what they said...

Google "Perma Plate" in the newsgroup section, you will see a lot of disgruntled people who got cheated by dealerships.

In another post on this subject recently, there were comments from people who previously worked at dealers.
They said sometimes they didn't even do the procedure.
Or only do it half a$$. Unless the customer was watching.
By all means, DECLINE.

Furthermore, you're in the right place to read and learn how to protect your investment yourself. :D

The dealer where we got the Envoy never got a chance to offer that as an option. He already knew that no waxing was to be done, much less a special sealant. :D
