im about to order all my new toys and i need some new clay. what brand do you guys like? for my GF's tahoe i think we are goin to need something fairly aggressive but for my cars a standard "light duty" should be ok. i dont need the lube either, got that on hand

I like the Griot's Garage clay, but if you're using it in warm weather, wear gloves.

The clay works great, but will stick to your hands. If you do have the clay stick to your hands, it's next to impossible to get rid of it.

I have only tried Meguair's, Griots (a friend's), Clay Magic and 3M...using the 3M now, but the Clay Magic would be a close second.

I like the 3M as I can just buy the clay at my auto body supply house and not have to buy the instant detailer as part of the package.

Aw shucks, NorCalZ71. This thread is not going to make your life easier, is it? :(

I've used Mothers, ClayMagic, and Autopia. For reasons others have mentioned, I never did bother with Zaino clay and haven't tried Griot's clay. Of the three I've tried, I now always reach for the Autopia clay on vehicles I really care about. Its consistency and effectiveness are the best I've tried so far.

My 2nd choice is Mothers. Very malleable clay, and their lube smells marvelous (or at least that's what my nose says). On my 2nd-tier cars, I reach for it first, just to save money, because I think it's a bit less expensive than Autopia's clay. And I know I can always find a "replenishment" locally, instead of having to do an Internet order.

Compared to those two, ClayMagic is just so-so to me. I'd buy it if the others werent available. There's nothing "wrong" with it. But to me, it just feel like Autopia and Mothers do a better job.

I have always liked the Mother's clay bar kit.

Just an FYI to those who have used the Meguiars Quik Clay kit and didn't like it. Meguiars has a new supplier for all of their clays now. I don't think the outer packaging has changed on the Meguiars Quik Clay kit but, you can tell if you have the new clay by the wrapping on the clay. The new clay should have the Meguiars logo all over the wrapping. I haven't tried it yet but, others have said it is a big improvement over the old clay.
