Let's  for a speedy recovery for Holland_Patrick who had some major surgery on his knee yesterday ..
:thanks

WOW must be Painfull!! My prayers go out for him also. Ive got few heavy duty pain pillsleft, alll of the precription in fact, I didnt take any killers after surgury.

What did he have done? Was it an accident, ACL? Torn ligaments usually end up with a lot of screws. I hope he's having a measure of success with the drip. I had a nerve block (went in upper thigh) and a patient controlled drip initially following my surgery. Once they pulled the block tube (4 days following surgery) and it wore off I found the drip to be totally ineffective even though I could push the button every 15 minutes or so. It would help but wore off very quickly. It was much better for me to have injections and even pills.

The pain management therapists told me that pills actually gave the longest level of relief of anything except the nerve block. I thought they were blowing smoke at first but found what they said to be true. Tell him to make sure they give him the right dose. Pills come in a fixed amount and it's very easy for them to give what ever amount the pills are made in regardless of body weight or tolerance. Having recently gone through a multi-level spinal fusion and knee replacement I'm a firm believer that if someone is in pain they should do what it takes to get on top of it and stay there at least for the first couple weeks. It's much easier to maintain that level of comfort than letting it wear off, start hurting again and then trying to once again get on top of it. It gets really old having a nurse come in and ask you what level of pain (1-10) you are in. I think that human nature wants to say I'm getting better and it's less than last time. For me and I believe others this often isn't the case. Steve, please tell Patrick that Dr. GearHead told him to make sure and do this.

I am sorry to hear that he needs surgery!! He will be in my prayers for a successful operation and a speedy recovery.

It started as an ACL , and they told him it would be a routine 1 1/2 hour surgery that turned into 3 hours and drilling through the bone etc...
He's a paramedic by profession so I'm sure he'll be on top of it as far as pain meds . He had a lot of pre-op rehab to strengthen the muscles, so hopefully the recovery will not be too bad ... glad to hear you are recovering too Mark :)

Get well soon! I had my ACL and MCL repaired, just make sure you start the rehab asap and the knee should get close to 100% after about one year. Good luck.

Well I'm doing much better Ya there was a nerve block in there It ended yesterday and I took down my bandages to pull it out.. man it had a good 6 inches of tube in my leg..

it's not looking tooo tooo bad..

Ya the pain pills.. I don't like taking them as advised.. I cut them in half and take them twice as often. It keeps me more alert and i don't get the Hign then low of the 4 hour trips..

also it's easier to get off of them I pretty much can sleep though the night now with out pain or needed to wake up and take the pills. I'm very happy about that. Anyways I'm always thinking of you guys and I hope to be back to detailing soon as my nephew just got another trans am for me to detail..

Good to see you are on the path to recovery...if there is anything I can do to help let me know, being close by helps...
