Ppf/clear bra

I checked my pics and will check again and post if I find it......removed PPF. It`s not clear. It`s more like yellow clear......
Bad analogy but take a scratched iPhone screen. Put one of those screen protectors on them. Scratches disappears.
Things are masked

But if you care about paint chips due to driving environment, it may be worth it....
Just too many drawbacks for me. Not here to talk you out of it.
Just bear in mind, PPF is a huge upsell......
So know both the positives and the negatives

I`m not completely anti-ppt
I did do PPF on the door sill of a recent car. Just due to step in/step out/paint of the truck...
Heh, lined the chute and bucket of a new snowblower....

But for full on exteriors, eh, not my thing.

Cayman. I don’t know what the prices are. I never had ppf before. I appreciate all your info. My friend Dan that lives in California must of found a 1 in a million shop. He got his 2022 for Ranger done. He got 3M ppf. He told them the areas he wanted done. Bumper fender hood headlights mirrors door Handel area and edges of doors. He said it was 900
I don’t know if I can tell shops in my area what I want and they do it but most shops in pa where I live have set packages and prices. Well over 1,000. Thanks.

Full PPF can run anywhere from $3500 on up past $6000. Much depends on the l8cal market and like anything, can find good, better & best installers. Good, better & best not only corresponds to the actual install but the service & support before and after the install.

PPF protects from chips and will heal minor swirls. Ceramic coatings make maintenance easier, less frequent and protects from environmental & natural contamination. Ceramics does not/do not prevent/protect from scratches.

Ceramics can have a variety of longevity claims attached to them (generally overstated) but those can vary based on climate, vehicle usage patterns and maintenance habits. Coating mfgs are often quite optimistic with their claims. Ceramic applications can vary widely in price based on region, level of prep desired/required...$500 on up but I`d guess $1200 is generally a ballpark for a quality prep, paint correction/polishing and coating.

When ever I get ppf done. I would probably just get the front end done. Hood, bumper fender mirrors and headlights. What do you like better ppf or ceramic coating. Thanks

Perfect world, both. Have done ceramic to death, still like it for daily drivers but for our `hobby` cars, which are generally daily driven as our only cars from May thru November, PPF + Ceramic is worth the investment to me. Everybody`s different though so no universal best solution for everyone.

If $$ was no object ALL my cars would be PPF + Ceramic.

For a brand new car used as a daily driver you say getting the whole thing ceramic coated is better than just getting the front end package ppf done. Thanks

I don’t have that kind of money. It’s either one or the other. That is why I said which one would be better and worth the money for a new car used for a daily drive. Thanks a lot.

If you do a lot of freeway driving, PPF the front end and then DIY the ceramic with an easy to use `lite` coating like Gyeon CanCoat. CanCoat can be pretty much like using a spray wax as far as ease of use goes. Around $60 for a container of it, will get ya a few applications; every 6-8 months of great performance with each application.

If you don`t do much freeway driving, PPF isn`t as necessary, could probably skip PPF. Freeways just ruin front ends with chips/pitting.

Perhaps if the ppf is really old it will turn yellow...

I took some ppf off the sides of my Jeep, that was installed in 2009, using only a carefully applied heat gun, and it was clear, not yellow...

I just slowly heated and pulled up an edge and just kept heating and pulling and it all came off in one door size sheet... Never saw Xacto whoopsies, etc.., either...

Guess i was lucky or had really great installers...

Bull -

Have you seen installs from the shop you`re considering. That would be very important. Granted pricing is regional, but in my area, it would be at least another K for a front end wrap. There will always be good/better/best installers and on the same spectrum, different budgets. Good luck.

Since I am new to ppf what does a bad install look like and what does a really good install look like. What makes a bad install and a good install. Thanks
