Not as safe / yes, safe enough - yes. So i guess we see it as "like kind & quality enough". Insurance companies have as much to loose as auto manufacturers when someone gets injured or dies. I think you have a very good arguement, but I guess I'm just use to the insurance way of dealing with things. :usa There's not a person out there that likes it when I replace their OEM part with a used, aftermarket and/or reconditioned part, but it's in the insurance contract they choose to purchase. Most insurance companies offer the same product/coverage, but there are a few that offer less for less (Progressive). :sosad

David, my car insurance is up for renew at the end of this month, if you have experience in this field please make some recommendations. I know where you are coming from on Progressive, man they suck!

Odds are Changeling it wont pass Maryland inspection when its due so I would do something soon. Most times they will let dings and stuff on a windshield pass so long as it does not affect the view of the driver.

You should pick limits of insurance to best fit your needs. Don't over-insure if you don't have anything to loose. I strongly suggest that you shop around to as many insurance companies that you can(at least 5, if not 10). If you don't mind the use of aftermarket crash parts (fenders, bumpers, hood, etc), then Progressive, if less money, could be your best bet. Ask as many questions about possible senarios that could come up like collisions/accidents, vandalism, replacement parts policy, glass coverage). Let me know if you have specific questions that I could help with.
