For anytime you think "I don't know why you want this thing detailed, but OK"!

Here's my contribution. It's my mailman's '91 Dodge Spirit...

Let's see some more! :dance

Great thread idea! I get a kick out of beater details. Nice job on the Spirit.

[Accumulator kicks self for never taking pics of these types of projects :o :wall ]

Not necessarily a beater but my son has a 1997 Cavalier.

Poorboy's SSR2 with a Meguiars polishing pad

NXT Paste with a Propel blue finishing pad

Hey guys....These are actually pretty nice vehicles! My definition of a "beater" is an old, rusted out piece of crap that the owner doesnt give a darn about!! The photos and the work done to these "beaters" are great! Nice work everyone.

No point detailing a rusted out POS. I think the point is to show even inexpensive cars can look good when detailed properly.

Yeah I'm just talking about old cars that are very rarely taken care of by their owners. A car that's all rusted has no hope anyway. It'd be a waste of time and products.

Ebp - what kind of car is that? No exterior work done?

Now this is a great thread!! My old bucket o' bolts serves as my detailing products rolling test bed - - everyone should have one:

'95 Buick approaching 150k miles, I think the wheels, from a previous H body, must have nearly 1/4 million miles on them. Powertrain is still excellent, car is getting kind of loose, otherwise :nervous: :D No big deal, my office is only 3 miles from home and I can't justify driving the good cars such a short distance everyday.

Yeah, but I didn't want to vaporlock anyone on 56K. :)

Look under the last pic and you will see the link to the whole thread.

Only thing I can think of in detailing old beater uppers is time it takes which is a lot of work in polishing. I don't even want to think about how long it would take, it just makes my arms sore thinking about it but the rewards are great if you can justify doing it

I should get some pics of my brother's beat-to-hell 91 accord with 225k miles. I've detailed parts of it... It's my test car. I don't know WHAT is up with the paint on the trunk and rear quarter tho (my recent test area)...

I tried and tried with heavy polish and yellow cutting pad + rotary @ 3k rpm and was barely able to burn a tiny hole in the clear on an edge. Knocking down scratches and swirls is nearly impossible. Otherwise I'd detail it up, dents and scrapes and all.. Just for fun. It'd be the shiniest POS around :D

Why??? Because it was there! My Dad's 93 Camry. Over a 150K miles, the "Who cares?" car of the family. Used in the city, for fishing, carrying Home Depot stuff, basically every cruddy job imagineable. Stays in the street 24/7. I think it it was last washed and waxed by the dealer when it was new. It started as a goof to try the Makita Wool Pad that came with my Rotary, but it was pretty amazing how good it worked out in the end.

Did this one a while back, all by hand. DACP, #82 and finished with #26.

1985 Ford Tempo. Sorry, no before shots, just your typical faded red disposable car. ;)

LOL an '85 Tempo!!!

That's exactly what I'm looking for in this thread! :xyxthumbs :lol

Here's a couple more I dug up...

'91 Accord, single stage brown, 200K+

Detailed for the Extreme Detail Contest, but a non-winning entry.

SSR3/SSR2.5/AIO/UPP I think. I'd look it up, but I have dial-up and it would take forever. :(

I received word about two months later that the owner was able to sell the Accord for $1500! He gave me credit for that. He said there's no way he would have gotten that much money if it looked like it did before. :)

Now he's got an 01 or 02 Accord Coupe.

'93 Toyota EggVan (some like to call them Previas, I think my name describes them better) with 210,000 miles.

To be honest, I forgot the process all together on this one, and couldn't find my thread from a long time ago. I think it was AIO by PC and UPP. VM on glass, WG gel on tires, etc...

I've got pics of an old LeSabre somewhere...where are they hiding?...

You detail a lot of POSs! Maybe cause you make them look so much better.

Here is my brother's 92 accord

Tom P - that's a nice-lookin' Buick! What products did you use on it prior to that picture?

WhiteMax, at that time the products were Spilchy's preferred combo: AIO followed by Collinite's IW. I had TWO people stop and ask me what I had done to the car and what I was using. Needless to say, I was shocked. People usually scowl at the car with my wife being at the top of that list. To have someone compliment the car was truly a shocker.

I will say the paintwork (deep garnet red metallic) looks great when it's clean and recently waxed.

I misted the car recently with OCW immediately following its weekly wash. This was a week or two ago. I washed the car yesterday (1st wash since OCW app) and the paint, beading and silky smooth surface are really something to see. There's got to be some magic in that bottle of OCW ! Great stuff.
