I think keeping the engine bay clean is just as important as the rest of the car!!!:cornut:

Once it's clean, it doesn't take much effort to keep it that way. I usually do mine once a month.

Post some pictures!!!

I detailed my S2000 engine baytwo months ago, using APC+ and CD-2 Engine Dressing. It was my first engine bay detail, and I was pretty nervous; but it turned out well.

Reckon I can jump in on this thread.

This is a 1996 LT1 w/ CAI mod (cheap "home depot" style) :D

Soaked with P21S total auto wash and worked over with e-z detail brush. Dressed some of the plastic bits with POR's Boss Gloss. Still has some stubborn greasy stuff that needs more scrubbing!

I want to paint the coolant and wiper washer tanks black someday soon.

Bill I like that anti-glossy Satin finish look - understated but classy

Pat - Your last pic...What year Nova is it? The 'bay looks great!

There are a lot of showy bolt-ons for LT1s - obvious I havent
acquired any of that stuff yet (if I ever do)

I always have been leery about cleaning engines and engine bays. Am afraid of getting cleaner and or water on parts I shouldn't. How do you manage??

I've seen guys sho use the pressure wash in their engine bays!!!! :scared::scared::scared: NOT ME!!!

First time cleaning can be time-consuming. I rarely get enough liquid in the engine bay to do any damage.

If you wish, you can cover the electrical parts with plastic bags or aluminum foil.

You just have to take your time and do one part at a time.

Once it's clean, you can keep it clean with detail spray and some OLD microfibers.:D

Im no eggspert but if you use a product thats specially formulated for that task and its recommended by those who have used it sucessfully then you really are going to be in safe territory. Surely an engine left to itself is going to become worse and worse and become harder to clean. You can trust what you read on this forum that I know - beside that, taking basic precautions to block air intake, etc and depending on your particular engine, age etc. you can be confident that the cleaning will only improve things.

I recently picked this up from my brother. It's a 97' 3.2TL. He wasn't using it, so I just took it off his hands. It's a little bit of a project car for me because the car was pretty neglected. I also have a pic of the engine before I cleaned it. It was quite a mess!;)

My pride and joy: 96' Prelude VTEC. Check it out on the "weekend toy" thread.:)

I would have taken a picture of the engine of the IS350 also, except it would have been quite boring, since everything is covered. Don't know about you guys, but I like it when you can see the engine, not have it all covered up with plastic.:cursing:

I second the P21S Auto Wash.

Terry recommended it to me and the stuff is awesome at obliterating dirt in the engine compartment.

I am about to do the engine bay of my 2007 Camry 3.5 DOHC, will post picks later. Like to follow it up with Black again for the black plastic parts.

Nice Supra! Had my butt kicked by one of those twin turbos once....(I was in a Trans Am... I hit 130 and he kicked in the turbos... bye bye.)(I don't do that stuff anymore... I've grown up.
