gotta make it quick,

i have an opportunity to detail at the club i work for and do some pretty extraordinary cars for members such as dan reeves, if you know who that is, and i found out they had it b4 and it got cancelled because the county thought they were polluting the environment with the way they were doing it. The only thing i know is that they were shut down because of the soap they were using. What were they possibly using and is there an alternitive that the county will allow? I thought about just qew, but that may get tedius after a while. They were unhappy with the soap going into the sewer or something to that effect. I need some advice on how to go at this one. It would be an AWESOME opportunity but i need to find the loop hole. Are the chemicals we use toxic to the environment? If so, how do all these car wash companies stay in business? I have a meeting with the head of the club so the soon i hear from every one the better. Thanx!

Let me know if i can clarify anything for anyone.

There are plenty of chemicals used in detailing that are harmful to the environment. Some lines claim to be environmentally safe or 100% biodegradable. Some that come to mind are WG Tire Gel, and Optimum Car Wash. 303 Aerospace Cleaner also claims to be safe enough to wash vegetables with.

You should definitely use QEW. You won't have any water running into the sewer unless you dump your buckets in there. The previous car washers probably used the cheapest soap they could buy. I am one who is willing to spend a little extra to obtain environmentally-friendly products.

Many car washes use recycled water and a filter. So they don't actually have all that soapy water running off after each car. It gets used over and over again.

i will be buying into a dionizer bc they have their own well and recycle their water, which is what confused me. i have nxt car soap. ill have to look at it and see if its environmentally safe. im gonna call the county tommrow and see what they have to say. when i have my meeting im gonna ask what the deal was and see if i can find a loop hole, like i said. Any more advice is always awesome. i need all the help i can get.

You might be able to contact Meguiars and ask if the NXT soap is 100% biodegradable or not. I most or all of the Wolfgang line claims to be environmentally friendly. I'm not positive though.

From the WG site:

"Our collective vision was of a complete line of exclusive car care products that would be an exceptional value based on superb effectiveness, employing cutting-edge research and development, encompassing all aspects of car care applications. We were driven to have our product spearhead a new breed of environmentally friendly, non-toxic, biodegradable products, recently made possible through modern science. "

"We, at Wolfgang, set the bar high when it comes to environmental matters. Weâ€â„¢re committed to our products being earth-friendly. With a perfect, neutral pH balance of seven, Wolfgang Auto Bathe is completely safe for your skin and the environment. "

WG Tire Gel:

"Wolfgang Black Diamond Tire Gel has conquered these hurdles! Itâ€â„¢s environmentally safe, produces a realistic deep black finish, lasts up to three or four times longer, and doesnâ€â„¢t sling-off onto your carâ€â„¢s panels. No environmentally hazardous chemicals or additives go into Black Diamond Tire Gel. It is 100% biodegradable!"

WG Auto Bathe:

"Wolfgang introduces a luxury Auto Bathe to delight even the most discriminating auto enthusiast. We began with the idea of a state-of-the-art car wash that would be natural and gentle yet very effective, making the most of cutting-edge research and development in non-toxic, biodegradable cleansers."

So there you go. We know that the tire gel and Auto Bathe are both claimed to be environmentally-friendly products.

thanx i found it on autogeek's website. ill bring that up with the county and my boss tommrow. do you think i should talk to the county first? i dont want to piss off my boss or anything.

I'd make sure your boss is OK with you doing detailing there first before you spend a bunch of time talking with the County.

ya, he is ok with that part. i was saying whether or not to talk to the county before talking to him. im thinkin im gonna talk to them but make it seem distant and just outta curiousity's sake
