How do you guys polish the little areas that are surrounded by car emblems/directional blinkers with a PC? Can I just go over the emblem with the PC if it is covered with tape?

Also I am about 30 mins into polishing my car with SSR 2.5, and I notice that on the pad I am using that there is some dried product on it around the outer portion of the pad that touches the paint. Is this still safe to use?

thanks!

If you're using an abrasive product, I'd just try to stay clear of emblems, plastics, or any other trim that isn't painted and just try to get as close as you can without hitting them too bad. Taping these areas off will solve the problem, and you won't have to even worry about it. Now, if you are using something like Vanilla Moose, I go over absolutely everything with it, even the glass.

Some dried product buildup is normal and is fine until the pad becomes overloaded or caked. You will know this has happened when start seeing a light haze and/or the cutting ability of the product decrease. When this happens, either clean the pad with spur or cleaning brush or replace the pad with a fresh one and then continue.

How should I get the little areas to polish that are blocked by emblems? Should I try polishing the blocked areas by hand?

thanks

What I have done in the past is either put some product on a MF and work it in by hand, or if the area is large enough, when I'm done I'll take the pad off and use it. Honestly, I have a Honda, and I don't even worry about polishing inside the H emblems. I put wax or whatever I'm using in there, but it's so small and I can't see any damage to the paint, I just ignore it.

When going over areas with emblems, windshield washer nozzles, sideview mirrors or any areas that a PC really can't get to, I'll do it by hand. Even if it's taped up, I don't go over emblems or anything with the PC. My concern would be that it would catch or get some of the adhesive on the pad. Maybe a little too careful on my part.

If the product is dried out or caked on, I take it off with my finger nail or a credit card.
