Porsche Rear Sway Bar Link Deatiling

The rear Sway bar links on my Porsche 964 are pretty nasty. The gold anodized plating comes off really easy. What is the best way to clean these to make them look new?

zero9nine- I'm with JohnKleven, things like that are my excuse for upgrades :D

But other than that, clean 'em up as John said and see how they look. You might be left with bare metal though, and to prevent subsequent corrosion you oughta refinish them somehow. Again, I'd just replace them.

Wonder how those spraycan imitation-coatings would work  IIRC, Auto Body Repair Tools Shop, Auto Body Supplies, Automotive & Classic Car Restoration - Eastwood has something....but you'll have to search around their site to find it.

Did I suggest you merely replace them? :chuckle:

Just paint em black. Easier and better results than trying to what, polish back the zinc plating?

:hifive: i was gonna say the same thing. lol it would be better to sandblast it clean and powdercoat or something.

but i agree with everyone else and replace them with some aftermarket parts. you can then take your time meticulously refinishing the used links as a side project and you can sell them or always hold onto them and swap them out for the aftermarket parts if/when you sell the car. the performance of quality aftermarket suspension parts easily justifies the price when you need to do the repairs anyway. its worth it.
