Hello from the Windy City,

I'm new around here and was surfing to get some ideas to do my Porsche after a couple of years of neglect. When I bought it it was a real mess. I purchased a Porter Cable polisher and experimented with a bunch of products. It ended up looking pretty good. However, a couple of winters under a heavy cover and a few track days and it's time to redo everything. Here's a picture from when it came out of hibernation last spring.

There's a lot of products to choose from. I've got some Zaino #2 and #5 laying around. I'd appreciate any suggestions on the best products for the Glasurit paint that's on this. It's an '84.

Thanks and looking forward to participating in the forums.

Jeff

To get you started I would look into the Meguiars Microfiber polishing kit. It comes with everything you need and produces great results with your paint.
I've personally used it on
63 Super 90
69 911S
79 930
82 SC
88 930 (2)
And several newer with base clear.

If you get the chance check out Porsches to Oxford (P20). There were over 400 Porsches only this year. People come from all over. We sometimes take 3.

Welcome to the site!

What's "Porsches to Oxford"? Have not heard of that.

Jeff

One of the largest Porsche only gatherings. They do have a site w/pics. It's held in downtown Oxford around mid June near Miami of Oxford University. There is a hotel right there in the middle. It books fast in advance each year. I'm on my phone or I'd post a link.

Welcome to AutopiaForums Jeff, great that join up to the best on the net. I agreed with using the Meg's MF system, but is the paint a water based on it that you know of? and have you had a cage on it to determined if it's OK to compound it first to correction it the proper way. Just be careful when using the compounding part and your be fine. ( Always check your work after a 2X2 area ).

It's fine to use the Z2 & Z5 on it after the work has been done on the paint or you can use anyone of there fine products to top it of....BlackFire Wet Diamond, Detailer's Pro Series Poli-Coat Paint Sealant, Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0, Poorboy's World EX-P Pure Sealant or just go from here :
Paint sealants
