Just One More Coat
OK I had a look at this Porsche race car today...since this car is housed fairly close to the ocean its developed some corrosion on the aluminium housing and the generator....its really on the surface you can take it off rubbing it with your hand for the most part...this guy wants the motor cleaned no big deal there....but I'm wondering now about cleaning and then what to put back on to keep it from coming back.
Bare in mind that I told him that there was nothing that I could put on it that would stay for long once he drives the car because of the heat...That's not a concern as he is going to store it in a better shop from this point forward.
So my plan of attack is to degrease as normal with all the brushes and water...then what to apply after is my question.....I have plenty of engine coatings, its the aluminum I'm wondering...what about a silicon based product?... or is that bad for rubber parts?
Best part of this job is I'm having it put on a lift so that I can have his mechanic remove the wheels to clean the under carriage and the bottom of the motor...this car has only one season on it and is straight from the Porsche factory race ready with 425 HP under the hood its quite a ride for the guys with money!
HELP!!!!
