Poorboy's PwS review

New Normal
Hello to all!!

Received and order from Poorboy’s the other day. In that order was a sample bottle of what Poorboy’s said was the replacement for PwC. All that was written on the bottle was PwS(Polish with Sealant). Poorboy’s stated it was a one step product to clean paint. It was just what I needed since I was preparing the truck for the annual trek to Grandmother house with my son Kellen.

The bottle came in a nice dispenser type bottle with a pull up lid to use to place the product on my PC. This was not the typical Poorboy’s type bottle.

The consistency of the product was quite creamy after shaking it up. The smell was rather fruity. Not that I can smell it. I had to ask my wife. She did not grimace when she smelled it. Yet she was not smiling either. So for her it is run of the mill. I have to say that smell does not make me want a product either way.

I applied the product using a PC and a LC white pad. Doing a small section at a time wiping each panel with a MF towel as I completed it. There was very little dusting which pleased me. The paint was clean. It felt smooth and as clear as my GM paint will ever get. I knew when I started that it was not going to do any corrections. I had a few layers of Adam’s Butterwax on the vehicle that I had applied about a week before this project. I t looks and feels like it did a good job of cleaning the paint in preparation for the Poorboy’s EX that I planned to use as a sealant.

I do not have a lot of experience in paint cleaners. Have mostly used Klasse AIO for that purpose. So if I use AIO as a comparison I would say it comparable. The consistency is thicker. Because of this I believe that I used more product to get the job done. Yet the job did get done. Very easily and quite effective.

Would I use this product again. YES!

Am I going to order this product in the future? Most likely but have to add that I have a nearly full bottle of AIO on the shelf so I am sure it will be a long ways in the future at this time.

I have the full line of Poorboy’s products in my garage. So I am pro Poorboy’s to say the least. I think that they do a good job of producing results. I use them often on my friends vehicle’s . Most if not all of them are happy with the results. This product gets a positive review in my book. I applaud Poorboy’s for continually trying to make better products for enthusiasts like myself.

Will post pic's as soon as the batteries re-charge on my camera.

Nice Review! I look forward to the pics.
I'm a little surprised that its replacing PwC, but I'm not to worried because I just got some Blue PwC in my PakShak order last week
I hope PwS is just as effective at cleaning as PwC is with a more durable finish, not that PwC hasn't been durable for me. My only gripe about PwC and the EXs, is that for some reason they stain my trim. I try not to get it on trim, but I always find remains on it.

Well i got some pictures for the post. guess i should have waited but non the less here they are.

this is the after

These are mostly after pictures that have been top with Poorboy's EX.

My wife is at this moment changing the date on my camera. These pictures were taken today. Really, they were.

Wow, the truck is looking great!! Especially for not doing any "defect corrections" - where would you do them??

I do have two questions for you however . . .
1) You topped it with EX - did you not feel that the "S" in PwS would give sufficient protection or was it for appearance?
2) Is your helper available for hire?? ;)

Have a safe trip over the river & through the woods!!

Norah

thanks Norah!!

The PwS was enough. I just added the EX for the extra pop that it would provide.

I wish I could say that i did not do any defect correction. What I said was I did not do any today. Have spent nearly a week working on the truck because of some grit and water spot issues that came up because of little or no care for seven months while I was away in alaska.

The little detailer said, "Working on the silverado was enough for a little kid." He also said, "I am a little kid I do not work." Out of the mouths of babes.

The truck looks great.
You say you wiped each panel as you went, so I'll take i that it doesn't have to wait like you do with regular sealants.

Looks like I have something else to add to my arsenal when steve finally releases it.

Looks like you have a great little helper there too

It smells like Orange 50-50 Ice Cream Bars (we call it "Creamsicle").

After using up the sample quickly I drove Steve nuts until he sent me a gallon, and it's quickly become my favorite one step product. Some of the finishes I've used it on came out looking like 2 coats of EX-P had been applied.

Good Stuff!!!

Yes, I did wipe each panel as I did them. Worked it in with the PC till it was almost clear. Had little or no dust that way. I do not know if that is the way it is supposed to be done. It seemed to work for me.

Poorboy's told me that using this product would be enough protection for the trip I had planned. But being so anal about my truck I decided to put some EX on just to be sure.

Do we know if the PwS does remove some defects? Just haven't heard about the polish part about it yet... got the cleaning and sealing aspects of it, but how does it do polishing? Just more of a cleaner than light swirl remover? Just curious, and the truck sure looks awesome! Thanks for the help cwcad!

As far as I know it does little if any defect correction. I did not even try to use it that way. I only wanted to clean the paint of what it had on it. Two coats of Adam's Butterwax. I beleive that it did the job.

"Little if any defect correction" is correct.

I have a sample bottle that I will soon. Just wondering if you waited 24 hours to put on EX? That is a beautiful truck!!

Thanks for the compliment.

No I did not wait 24 hours to put on the EX. I applied Ex by hand to one side of the truck then wiped it off. Did the other side and tailgate. Then wipe off.
Did the tonneau cover, roof, and hood. Then wiped it off.

So help me out.
PwC has some wax to "hide" some things along the way, but only offers a little protection.
PwS would offer more protection, but will it still hide things?
And wouldn't the pad choice affect whether the product fixes defects? A polish pad, a cut pad, or a wool pad would all have different results I think.
What kind of protection would we get with the PwS if we are working it it with a rotary? I suppose it would be a couple of weeks.

What I liked best about PwC was the texture and ease of use, so I look forward to seeing PwS sometime.

In my application of PwS it did not hide any defects. It did not correct any defects. It simply and easily cleaned up the paint giving a clean shine. I guess I should have left it alone to see how the surface of the paint was protected. I used it as a paint cleaner to get rid of wax. It did just that.
