Poorboy's Natural Look To Replace 303?

CharlesW

The Rainmaker
This next spring I will be needing to get more 303 or something similar.
I have no real problem with 303, but the runoff issue does sometimes come up when I evidently don't buff it thoroughly.

It seems that the Natural Look is a very similar product and doesn't have the same runoff problem that seems to be associated with 303.

My main concern for vinyl protection is the seats in my pontoon boat. The boat is covered when we are not at the lake, but it might be uncovered and the seats exposed to the elements for 5 to 10 days several times during the summer months. The runabout is under a canopy even when it isn't covered so I'm not quite as concerned about UV protection for it.

Some of my thoughts:
1. 303 is a product I am familiar with and have had decent results with its use. The runoff being the only real issue.
2. 303 is a little pricey, but when you consider how long a bottle of it lasts, the cost isn't a big factor.
3. Natural Look is an unknown to me, but seems to have a pretty loyal following. Any other Poorboy's products I have used have been good so I have no reason to think Natural Look wouldn't be another good product.
4. I have not heard any complaints at all about Natural Look.
5. Both leave a matte finish which I prefer on all the surfaces where I use a dressing, including tires.
6. Since Natural Look has some cleaning ability, I would possible save a step in my routine. There is a lot of vinyl to clean and treat on the boats.
7. If I understand correctly, Natural Look is intended for both interior and exterior use.
8. Can Steve, (Poorboy), comment in this forum or do I have to contact him via a PM or in the Poorboy's Forum?

Anyone care to share their thoughts on the subject?

Charles, Steve (poorboys) has NL in his warehouse sale for $5.95. I've purchased a few of these, and it may be a bit thicker, but it works just the same. You might want to try this first to compare against 303.

I have used both and currently use NL only....For the finish you get a matted finish, but if you leave a quick second coat it shines up...dosen't sound like that's what you want. I have not noticed any run off on the outside plastic trim I have used it on...As for UV protection I think that Steve can address that one for you, yours is a bit different than what my concerns are.

I would suggest that you get a small bottle and see how you feel about it over the winter on your personal cars

plus the smell on NL is great all my customers love it!

I am in the process of ordering some now. :)

Charles,

Please be sure to post up your thoughts about NL after you have tried it for the benefit of others who also have not tried it. Also, what kind of a smell does this stuff have?

NL smells like cherry, but the warehouse sale NL does not have a smell.

Its a real hard to put your finger on the smell...its a clean smell for lack of better terms...very pleasant and not over powering...I spray some in the AC vents and it makes the vents clean looking and doubles as a air fresher

Charles, I have both products mentioned. When I first purchased NL ('03) I used in on the interior and tires (this was before I purchased BnB) of my Son's S-10 Blazer. I honestly can't remember how the NL lasted on the tires, but I can say that NL is what I use to this day on each vehicle interior that I clean. I like this product! I have used it full strength and lightly diluted with distilled water. For some reason the diluted versions leave a shinier finish

As Craigster mentioned, the biocides in NL are an interesting *wild card* for this product. I don't know what the concentration is, but it *sounds* nice. I have suggested that Steve advertise this component in his product description as I believe it is a value add selling point. I haven't read lately that any claims by Steve that the biocide is still included in the formulation, just an assumption on my part.

All of this and I still can't give a definitive experience about your specific application (exterior), but I feel certain that you will have no problem finding a spot for NL in your permanent arsenal.

Actually due to the recommendation of Mr. Clean ...we have some samples of a new Air Freshener / Deoderizer coming soon that also contains the biocides ...this will be great for vents and for vehicles that are stored for winters or long periods of time.
The biocides in the Natural Look were originally intended for Antique and Classic car owners who , on this coast, only use their vehicle seasonally.:D

I'm not sure what biocides are or what they do. Do biocides kill germ's and bacteria ? i wonder if any samples will be in the foam gun purchas'es YAHOOOO :flowers: :stuart: :w00t: :whistling
