Poorboy's EX

I couldn't wait to try EX on my Black Santa Fe. Hyundai's paint is not on a par with the better makes and it's hard to get it to look really nice. The closest I've come is prepping with Mother's Phase 1 and 2 and topping with a couple of coats of S100.

Like I said, I couldn't wait. I went ahead and applied EX over the S100. A 45 minute wait and it was removed easily revealing the best looking finish I have yet achieved

Durability is the question. I'll put another layer on later this week and then try to stay away from further applications for a couple of months. I'll try.

I was skeptical, given my experience with VM and MW. Right this moment, though, I'm really high on this product!

While I was at it, I put the third layer of Platinum on my wife's silver spruce Avalon. I couldn't be happier with the result.

So EX has medicinal uses too!!! ;)

What kind of odor does Ex have?

You will have to let us know how durabilty of EX is over a wax?

Why worry

If you like the look why worry about durability ( unless it is less than 1 month). Durability beyond one month is over played on many detailing forums. These are forums for detailing nuts and I can not see myself ever going beyond 2 weeks, let alone one month without a complete protection rejuveniation. This was done on a car that was driven last than 100 miles a month in only perfect weather. Even when I used Zaino I still found myself topping very often to achieve that ultra shine all the time.
EX is sooooo easy to use that a waxing session once a month is not too much to ask. If you are looking to extend the EX application for several months ( not to say that it would not last alone more than a month), a good addition would be the QD+ as a weekly QD.

Z28- I'm with you 100% on the durability issue. The only time I worry about that is my last wax before the winter, when I go with a full Klasse treatment. For the rest of the year, i'm going to be putting something on that paint at least once a month and more if i'm trying out a new product. For a car parked outdoors and driven on a regular basis, I really don't think any product is going to satisfy the serious enthusiast much after a month, although you could probably go two months with a Klasse/UPP treatment.

Well, in my part of the country (Saltsilvania), you need as much durability as possible! I sometimes have to go 2 or 3 months without being able to hand wash my vehicle, never mind wax or polish.

Anyhow, I sure hope some of these durability claims are close to being true! :(

That's the problem with durability claims. Here in southern Va there is no industry ( all gone south of the border:( ) and our air currents do not bring in acid rain. The winters are normally very mild ( mostly rain) which means very little salt used during this season. With that said my durability on my daily drivers are excellent. Even Souveran last about 6 weeks ( on my beater). So if I state so-and-so protectant lasted 6 months, this is only relevant to people living in my area. Would that make me a liar if I stated so-and-so protectant lasted 6 months and someone else in the snow/salt/industrial belt only gone 3 weeks. No
If I still lived in Boston ( snow and acid rain ) I would still be about to clean my vehicles at least once a week like I did in the past even though I appeared crazy washing between snow mounds. Detailing is like excercising, there are many excuses not to but all are really just excuses.
There is also merit in not touching one's vehicle when the best condition do not exist for a safe wash. Dirt on top of a good protectant have never created swirls.:D

I have the EX on top of my white Renault, only one coat after polishing. It's my daily drive and it 24h outside. Wash it almost every week in a touch-less car wash. Today I washed it again, still beads very well and looks better. It's been about one month since I wax it.

I Could Not Wait ...

I put the second coat of Poorboy's EX on the Santa Fe this morning. I must say that the black is blacker, smoother and deeper still! Mother's Phase 1 & 2 topped with a couple of coats of EX will be the regimen for the Santa Fe.

My Wife's Silver Spruce Avalon will continue the AIO/UPP routine. The "Silver Spruce," a sort-of light medium bluish silver, looks absolutely terrific with Platinum Ultimate Paint Protection!!

I would truly like to use UPP on the Santa Fe, but the black shows every single molecule of dirt or the most insignificant of surface marring. Thus, my Santa Fe gets the filler/glaze mar hiding prep for the combination resin/carnauba product EX.

This is a good point...If I had a vehicle and didn't have time to
give the paint a going over to get as many scratches and swirls out as possible...( i hope this would be rare), then a filler ( a swirls polish type product) is a good idea topp'ed with a wax or Poorboys product ....but....a months or so would go by and those fillers would no longer fill'ing....hummmm
