I have a daily driver, and am looking to put something on the wheels to help keep them looking clean not just easier to clean. I need a product that is safe for all finishes. I see many people using various products. I am curious if I should get PB Wheel Sealant or something else? I see people saying save your money and get something with more general use like 845? Thoughts?

In my honest opinion I would not get PB Wheel Sealant - Don't get me wrong as I have the product and use it (although I will not be getting more once my jar is finished). It does a good job but it doesn't do anything "unique" or different to separate itself from a traditional sealant (such as your aforementioned 845). I have tried various paint sealants on my wheels and practically all of them have performed equally as well as PB WS. These days, I pretty much just use whatever excess sealant products that I have in my cabinet or if I am in a hurry, I will use Duragloss Aquawax while i dry the wheel. Once you apply your sealant-of-choice (including PB WS if you go that route), be sure to stay away from chemical wheel cleaners as they will also remove the sealant.

I think as long as you are not in a super high temp situation, and that you regularly care for your wheels PB sealant is a fine choice, as well as any of the DG paint sealants or Collinite. It begins to become more important, selection choice that is, when you get in situations of neglect and situations of sup high temps. I mean all that aside, they do make them easier to clean obviously for the regular person.

PB WS is an excellent product, have used it for years. Well worth the $ for it. I maintain it with AW too as the above mentioned. Also I don't use wheel cleaner, just wash soap.

ok thanks! seems like it is great stuff, but not a necessity. i think i will go the route of getting another sealant and just use it on the wheels.

You should be fine. Alot of people like to use a wheel cleaner, but for the people who care for their wheels at least once every couple of weeks, shampoo and a spritz of APC is really all thats needed and thats without any sealant. Sealant just makes the job easier

Not many people like PBWS because it does have some durability issues. But then again, what Poorboys product is known for durability? Their products are all about easy of use and quick results. In that regard, PBWS delivers in spades. It smells great, is an excellent cleaner and has ok durability. Best of all, it makes factory painted wheels POP. I've used other sealants, but this stuff really looks great on silver wheels. I like the look so much I've even tried it on the actual paint of a car. You can expect a month or two of durability for a car that is parked outside 24/7. Use of strong wheel cleaners will obviously impact that.

Thank you guys for the responses. It does sound like a good product, but I like the idea of having the 845 in my arsenal cause I do not have any good durable paint waxes. I was skeptic if the 845 would hold up on the wheels, but it sounds like it should do what the PBWS would at least.

Does anyone put anything on top of the 845? I have read people putting 476 on top, but I want a brake dust repellant like Armor All Wheel Protectant or EO Keep Wheel Clean. If there is nothing wrong with this, I plan on doing it. I'll probably soap and water for my regular washes and spray on some EO Keep Clean to maintain it. I thought about spray wax, but I doubt it will last very long.

I am a student and new to the detailing world. I have been reading, learning, and researching to maintain my recently re-re-painted Lexus IS300 Solar Yellow with Gold Pearl. Also, I wash my family members cars for a little extra cash to fund my inventory.

How did that turn out? Just curious if it still popped like on the wheels, and also about durability.

I wonder what PB WS is really made of - is it something for paint just designed to feel and look different? Can't argue with the watermelon smell, thats for sure.

On a recommendation, I've been using Optiseal on the wheels and it seems to have good durability along with great dirt shedding ability. At least better than 1000P which is what I'd used before.

It looked great, a ton of depth, but Z2 ended up looking better. Durability was ok, but I think I ended up stripping it before it was done, which is typical for me.

A good sealant will have high temp polymers. No need for a wheel specific sealant.

Meh, maybe, but like I mentioned above, if you take PBWS as a pure sealant, you will be disappointed. Take it as a wheel care solution, and you'll love it. I have twenty something sealants, probably more waxes and I keep using PBWS because it works great on wheels and its so easy to use.

interesting to note you still use PBWS over all the other things you have. haha, maybe when i get some extra funds ill invest in it too and try it out

Yeah, if you see it on sale, which it frequently is, grab some and try it out. Its definitely a love it or hate it product. I'd say 80% that use it hate it, the other 20% seem to love it.
