Pond Renovation

Pockets

@PoorboysWorld.com
Well I decided that after the harsh winter we had and the bad engineering on my part that lead to the walls collapsing it was time to renovate my backyard pond.

Key points were to redo the waterfall so it looked nice and also to slope all the sides of the pond away from the pond so I did not get anymore dirt in it when rain happened.

Onto the pics.

Here you can see the sorry state it was in after the winter.... fish did not mind in the least and actually loved hiding in the fallen rocks but it was not pretty

Here you can see the old waterfall removed (took a lot of work as they were placed with an excavator and are very heavy for two people)

Wall reconstructed

Digging out and cleaning up the waterfall filter as well as getting the dirt out from behind the liner that water ran in.

More progress

Old walk up to the pond

New walk up that has rocks that you can step on and get right up to the ponds edge but safely haha

New Waterfall construction beginning

Bought two new fish bringing the total to 13 (the white one is a Gin Rin Platinum Ogon for those into Koi)

Waterfall dry

Waterfall wet

Up and running!

More to come as I finish up the edging and entrance to the pond. I'm very happy with the way it turned out. I also got a smaller pump (4,000 gph from 5,200 gph because it was just too loud of a waterfall, now it is perfect)

Thanks for looking! :)

Thank you everybody!

Very nice! Moving those big stones around must have been back-breaking!!!

My back was hurting for a little while after .... my fathers back was killing him haha old man! I asked him "when did you get so old" :D

Really nice work! I'd drink a beer by that most nights!

I've got a "beer rock" right next to where I can sit and put my feet in :rofl It is super relaxing before work and at night

I recommend a pond to anybody it's not hard to own and even easier if you want to pay somebody to upkeep it.

Hahah, sweet! I spend most of the nights on my patio! No pond! :( haha

Very cool. I have thought at lot about a "tropical oasis" style pond - Florida sytle - in my backyard: Palm trees, sand and gators...

The problem is that my son and his herd of friends would trash it after one football game... so I live vicariously through your pond.. for now...

Thanks for sharing Pockets, it looks great! :bigups

Looking good Pockets. I have a small pond and I agree its the perfect place to relax with a cold one after a hard day.

Me too.

Looks great Pockets. Didn't you just redo it/ build it not that long ago? Either way it makes me want a pond now.

I just built it in October and it sat over the winter. It was no where near up to my standards but not much I could when the ground was frozen. I was also learning so I was pretty proud of myself for even getting that far with it.

Now it will be perfect. Once the mulch goes around it and I have a rock step that I made to go up to it. Also plants (right now there is a papyrus pland and lilies that are coming up. It will look great .... of course I will have pictures then too

Quite an improvement. I remember when you did the very first one, it was little more than a small hole in the ground.

I love water features, but I don't think that would work so well in Florida without almost daily upkeep.
I can always tell it's time for chemicals in my pool when the frogs get so loud I can't sleep. Once I shock the pool, they bolt for a week or so.

Pockets,

Did you build this or just sit back and take the pictures? It looks nice :bigups

I did it all myself! Some slight help from my father and fiancee :)

Yup the one that bit me with the bug :D .... this one's a little bigger haha

I'd be in it by midnight :bubba

I was in it over the weekend it was beautiful! I actually slipped when I was in it and fell all the way down with my phone in my pocket :wall

Haha :lol2: .... they really are not that hard to maintain mother nature does most of the work and you can always have somebody come and do it for you :inspector:
