How many who post on the 'Professional Detailers' forum actually clean, polish and wax cars professionally on a regular basis?

Just a quick poll to ask those who post on the 'Professional Detailers' forum to vote in the poll by selecting whether or not they actually detail professionally on a regular basis.

I have a regular 9-5, but detail every day off that I have--about 10-15 full details per month. Not sure exactly where that classifies me, but I voted part time.

I also try to always make a disclaimer when posting in the professional forum(noting that I am not a pro). IMO, what I do is a little different than someone who is putting food on the table via detailing.

I am pretty much in the same boat. I do more along the lines of 15-20/month, but only do it 3-4 days a week, if that. I am currently looking to segway into a corporate career, so that takes up a lot of my other time.

same...work a regular job....detail 10-15 a month.

I'm pretty much doing the same thing. I work on contract as a comp engineer remotely, so I just have projects that need doing by 'x date', I'd say I do 20hr/week on that, the rest detailing. So far this month I'd detailed 16 cars in 15 days so it's full time atm.

As a firefighter, I have a rotating schedule working the 10's and 14's schedule.. two 10 day tours, two 14 hour night tours, then four days off.

I also work part time in the support services division of tthe State's Fire Academy., so I detail on my days off and when I am not at the Academy, so I fall into the "part time pro" category.

Detailing pays for vacations and flight lessons.

I find this poll interesting...and it's something I think about from time to time.

For the record, I only detail our vehicles and the occasional loaner that strikes my fancy. I do *not* detail for remuneration so I'm absolutely *not* a professional as I define "professional". When I got paid for it (and yeah, it was a full time job for a while when I was younger), then yeah, I was a pro, but I'm actually a far better detailer skill-wise now. I consider myself a "talented amateur with considerable experience".

As such, I try to confine my posts on the Professional forum to topics where I have first-hand experience that I believe others (including professionals) might find useful. As I generally just do a search for new posts I don't always even notice that a particular thread is in the Pro forum :o and I sometimes wonder if many of the pros here object to my posting on this forum.

As a "Part Time Pro" as per your definition, I encourage any and all comments from anyone out there. I think you can learn something from everyone. There have been "unicorn" details out there that all of us have just scratched our heads on. Sometimes it gets tough and a little wisdom from seasoned detailers never hurt anyone (IMO of course) :D.

Michael: Sounds like a pretty stand-up operation. Kudos.

Joe: As usual, you are a monster...Some of the jobs you have posted up are not only down right stunning and impressive, but more importantly, incredibly exclusive.

Your way too kind-THANKS :2thumbs:

Full time owner/operator/detailer for 10 years. Sold my business 3 years ago and now I concentrate my efforts to a small group of people that like maintaining their vehicles. I only do a few per month.

I guess I can answer Yes-Full Time & also Sometimes.
