Had to comment on that...I had my Mallett C5 built for that, real fantasy-fulfillment that I thought would be my coolest car ever....then found that it was downright frustrating to drive on the street; driving a great car at 4/10ths (which was still "into custody"-fast) was no fun at all :grinno: I don't miss that car one bit and I actually cover ground faster in the S8.

So I'm not sure that, in real life, the "better" C5 would be as enjoyable after all  Guess it's one of those subjective things, but I can't help thinking "gotta watch what you wish for" ;)

More importantly, that c5 belonged on the track though and not the street in traffic so how many times did you get to take it to the track and how many sets of rear tires did you go through while you owned that fine machine? Which Mallett package did you have put on it?

EXACTLY :xyxthumbs I think you get it :D It ended up being the wrong tool for the job once that "job" changed.

I had it built right as a whole bunch of stuff changed (big life-change period for me and my wife) and I never got it on the track even once! Never even came close to wearing out the first set of tires, hardly drove it at all due to that "fast car slow" frustration. Though it was a really nice street car, actually very comfortable to travel long distances in. But, for example...it was so low (even at "I won't set it up any higher than this!" suspension settings) that I had to drive it a looong ways to fill it up as our local stations all have the wrong curb approaches, couldn't run errands with it for the same reason, had to creeeep in/out of the new house's drive even after having it regraded just for that car.

It was the "396" package with some tweaks, Chuck called it a "396 plus". The suspension was set up very neutral, "autocross style" as he put it. No issues at all idling/etc. in traffic, just a little lumpy-cammy, and it was an even happier street car after we switched the rear to 4.10s (then I could at least use the higher gears now and then on the highway).

IMO I just bought it a few years too late for what my life's about now :nixweiss

It's all good Accumulator. Every real man needs a Vette in his life at least once, just to see what it's like. I'm glad you got your chance, and with the 396+ package as well!

Hi all

Well both the cars are fabulous and amazing its very difficult to decide which one is best but when you talk about Mustang you don't have any other choice. So I also go for Mustang.

I read something the other day about how the top Mustang will soon have some awfully impressive performance. Now whether that will translate to something useful for street applications is another matter, but it's nice that Ford keeps turning up the wick. I just hope it doesn't get all big and heavy.

Oh, Welcome to Autopia karan1070!

Based on the current poll results it's clear that the Mustang is beating the Camaro as it should. :nana:

We won't hold being a Ford man against you.... after all, nobody's perfect :nana:
