Polishing Wheel Damage

I've noticed a place on my alloy wheels where it is scuffed up - into the metal. This is no doubt from hitting a cement curb...I am wondering what I can do? Can I maybe smooth it out with a dremel and some kind of compound?
 
I'd prolly leave this to a pro wheel refinisher. The real trick will be to blend it in to the surrounding area and that will be tough without pro experience and tools. Give it a try if you want but if they were expensive wheels, I dunno if I'd be messing with it on my own.

I don't know if they are that expensive....they are standard on Accords...clear coated alloy wheels. I think they go for $150-$200 per wheel. But since its already trashed in that spot I don't think I could make it much worse...or could I? [evil grin]
 
I went thru the same thing. My dad drove my brand new Mustang GT and backed right into a curb. Felt the car hit the curb but KEPT going!!! Did MUCH more damage to the rim than yours. I took the rim off the car and took to a trusted body shop of mine. He did his magic and you cannot even tell. I believe he used some sort of polishing wheel. Again, my damage went 3/4 around the rim. I wish I had before and after pics for you.....My long drawn out opinion? Let the professionals handle it or get a new rim. I believe he charged me 50 bucks.
 
Ok, I have a few of those, and its fine...ill get new wheels one day...



Though, I have a problem on the flat areas...bascily scratches, discoloration, rough, etc



Any ideas?
