Polishing Thin Paint

I found a nice foaming product that I like. I can't remember the name of it though. You can get it in AutoZone. Are there any specific type of window cleaner you have found to be most effective?

I've found it hard to find a good cleaner that can cut through smoke haze on the front windshield and still not smear all over the place. I've tried most everything off the shelf so I'm starting to look at some more industrial cleaners.

I have had great success with Stoners Invisible Glass and a MF towel. Seems to cut right through all the haze inside etc.

Ugh, Eagle One 20/20 window smearer? That stuff is the worst product I have ever used. I was so disappointed with it, it seems to have no cleaning ability whatsoever, just smears everything around leaving a nice film on the windows. :down

Wow..... I have been using 20/20 now for several months and it is the fastest product out there! It wipes and buffs out almost immediately. Maybe you got a bad batch or someone squirted some oil or something in it.... Stoners is a great product as well, but I found that it took longer to buff it completely out than 20/20.. I use them both, depending on which is closest to me when I reach for it.

I used Meguire's Quik Detailer and a cotton towel. It's great, no smearing or streaking.

Has anyone out there use a QD too?

I like Stoner's and Sprayway. Stoner's is perhaps a little better on automotive interior glass but it is close. I had some filmy substance on the glass in my new garage doors and the Sprayway did a better job than the Stoner's while using them both with a Viper Glass Cloth.

The big can of Sprayway cost me $2.75 while the Stoner's was $4.50.

And don't forget Brillianize for clear plastics like guages and lights.

Am I the only one using Vinegar/Distilled Water? Works well but I don't like the smell. Guess I'll get myself 20/20 to try.

Stoner's or EF Clear Vision work well for me, I use the gold Viper glass towels. One thing though, don't dry the towels in the drier, they pick up and retain the lint! Air dry the towels.

FreeBSD,

I also find QD's like Meguiars FI and EO Wipe and Shine are awesome for cleaning windows and leave no film, streaks, etc. The ONLY downside is the cost of a bottle of QD is usually 2x the cost of glass cleaner. 20/20 costs $2.99, Meguiars FI cost $5.95 a bottle.:D

I don't use it on really dirty windows but after I wash and dry my car, I use the QD to get the windows all shiny and streak free, they look great. The QD seems to evaporate faster than window cleaners and doesn't haze or leave streaks or a film.

Just use some blue ammoniated glass concentrate in a trigger bottle and 1 sheet of the sunday newspaper bunched up, The mixture is strong I use so it cuts right through the film and the newspaper makes for an excellent clean up and almost streak free shine, You actually save time to by using only 1 sheet as opposed to using 2 or more of the towels to achieve the same results. Only thing is not to do your dash before the windows.

You said "Almost streak free"..... Almost just doesn't cut it. Thats why the products we use do not have ammonium. Besides, you should NEVER use Windex or any ammoniated cleaner on tinted windows. The crumpled newspaper trick is pretty cool and does work, but I have found that with the right product and a microfiber towel or even a terry towel, the job gets done better and quicker.

From reading your post, are you referring to household glass cleaners such as Windex? These are not typically recommended for automotive use as the ammonia is detrimental to weatherstripping. :(

I have been very pleased with the performance of Sprayway...Stoner's Invisible Glass is a close second. :up

Equal parts of distilled water, white vinegar, isoprophyl alcohol and 2 drops of blue food coloring for effect. Pour this mixture into a spray bottle and shake well.

(Note: always spray the cloth, never the glass)

I've never had a car with its windshield tinted on the outside. Anyway as a new car dealer ammoniated glass products is key. Nothing wrong with the power of ammonia.

I have used vinegar/water,denatured alchohol/water, AIO/water, blue household cleaners, z-6, Meguiars #34, One grand Show Off, Stoners INvisible, 20/20 and quite a few others. The best I have used is Denatured alchohol and water at 1/4 alc/h20. Meguiars #34 is a close second. It may resist dirt a little better than the home brew. You can get denatured alchohol at Home depot for a dollar for 32 ounces.
