polishing the windshield

I use any of my Polishes except the one with Carnuba, depending on what I'm trying to achieve....
 
rtbrick: I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish however, When I used the clay on my car the other day I did the windows too and the results were great. Of course if you have scratches and such that you trying remove then I suppose the polishng thing would make sense?? Not much help but its my 2c ;)
 
I use clay or whatever polish I'm putting down to detail windows as well as paint. If the windows have a problem area I'll use the PC.

In fact when I got my new truck all the windows and especially the back window had some sort of contaminant on them that I could not get off. After trying everything including going to the local glass shop and buying some the stuff they use I bought one of those mouse shaped sanders that Black & Decker sells and I used that with a scotch brite pad attached and the professional stuff from the glass company to clean the back window. That finally got the job done but only after several tries using significant pressure and lots of passes.
 
The end result I'm looking for is a nice clean windshield. I'm not trying to correct any scratches or chips, just want to ensure I have prepared the windshield the best I can for clarity. I wondered about using some of the polishes I have on hand (SSR1, Menzerna FI, Meguiars Deep Crystal System polish). Is it best to do it by hand? The "kit" that I linked to above includes a PC disk that can be used once or twice, then thrown away.
 
Im sure at the very least, you could get dirt out of the microscratches in the windshield with clay, or even better results with a meduim grade clay.
 
It might cause more problems than it gets rid of, but I guess you COULD use it. Not sure, jsut thinking out loud.
 
I know AIO works pretty well on side windows and even after a good cleaning the applicator looks dirty but thats probley the AIO color.
