Polishing pads?

I just bought a harbor freight polisher. I read that I shouldn't use the pads that came with it. What should I use?

Mainly going to practice on some older cars that the paint is pretty bad. I've got some Mwguiars 3 step product(Cleaner, polish, wax), that i've used by hand with minimal results

You got a *rotary*, right?

I'm a big fan of wool pads. Today's wool pads are very different from the old-school ones, and are safer and more effective than harsh foam pads. You *will* need foam pads for mild/finish polishing though.

I like using 6" and 4" pads, as opposed to larger ones.

I like Edge pads (esp. for wool) and Lake Country (check out their Purple Foamed Wool). Google those two brands if you don't find then in the links below.

Get some mildly abrasive polishes, using the Deep Crystal stuff with a rotary isn'w worthwhile. I recommend the 1Z line as it works well at low speeds (sources: Home or Aloha & Welcome to Our Oasis for All Your Auto Detailing, Auto Detailing Supplies, Auto Detailing Equipment, Auto Detailing Products, & Auto Detailing Accessories for all your Automobile Detailing ).
