Polishing over pin stripes?

What is everyone doing for a car with pin stripes? I am working on a Infiniti FX45 that has them, and have not done a car with stripes yet. Do you guys normally tape them off? Or do you go over them, just very carefully? Im going to play it safe and tape them off i guess, until someone says otherwise. Thanks!
 
If they're not clearcoated, then I wouldn't touch them with a polisher. But either way, I tape over them and avoid them. The only way to guarantee not screwing them up is not messing with them. There is no way for you to know who put them on, how they put them on, how their prep was, and the quality of the pin-stripes' adhesives.



Pay special attention to wax build up on the edges of the pin-stripes as well.
