Polish/wax suggestion for silver paint

I am currently using Zaino polish on my silver paint and am happy with it. I am just curious if the pros here at Autopia suggest something better for silver paint. Thanks in advance.:bow
 
I have a new silver Passat and have been using Zaino for the past few months. I also have been using S100 on my wife's car and decided to give it a try on the Passat. The finish is noticeably more glossy and reflective than with Zaino. If you use the S100 SEPC, the finish is even better, super slick. Amazing stuff.

Is S100 carnuba wax or a polish. If I put a carnuba topper over Zaino, do I have to wait for the wax to wear off or can I put layers of Zaino over the carnuba?
 
Yes you do have to wait. An easy rule of thumb is this... You can't layer anything on top of a carnauba except more carnauba.



You may want to try a different sealant to see what you think. Platinum is a really impressive one. Klasse has always pleased me on silver. Blackfire is a really good choice too. I think you are probably just going to have to try them all if you want to honestly know which one you like better. A picture can't do a product justice and words are just words. Seeing is truely believing.

:up Exactly why i have so many products for so few vehicles.
 
I'm pretty new to the detailing world and this site is really great help. Detailing can get very confusing and frustrating at the same time. So let's say I put a carnuba topper over Zaino and 4 weeks later I want to do another layer of Zaino. Should I wash the car with Dawn to remove all the carnuba or will the carnuba be worn off by then?

Hi BAMAJAS. It's easy to be overwhelmed with all the info available at Autopia, especially since there are so many different things to do and even more products to do it with. I don't know how old your car is or what condition the paint is in, but before you start looking for a new product to try, remember that proper paint prep is 95% of what matters first. Zaino is one of the "great" products (among many here), but if your paint needs some rejuvination or swirl removal first, what you put on top of it is a secondary consideration.



Dawn washing may strip off the carnauba wax, but it's not terribly reliable in that respect. There have been mixed reports about its ability to strip wax, and this is probably due to the way different waxes are blended and formulated. If "carnauba wax" actually had nothing but real wax in it Dawn might work reliably, but I don't think many waxes are just carnauba these days....
