polish or just wax?

Once I have detailed my car clay/clean/swirl remove/wax



I will be washing and waxing my car as normal afterwards assuming paintwork is as new condition. Could I apply some sort of pure polish (non abrasive) to make it even shinier with the wax as a REGUALAR thing?
 
John, I think the OP was referring to a glaze by his use of the term "pure polish" (Meg's terminology for glaze). And yes, uforia, you can use a pure polish every time you wax, if you would like.
 
In the interest of not doing unnecessary work (I know, more of my Autopian Heresies, huh?) I'd try merely refreshing the wax from time to time. Seems to work fine for me, at least for a while. If I thought that the appearance would truly benefit from an application of #5/#7/etc. I'd probably do it, but just gently claying (Sonus green, not hard enough to remove existing LSP) and redoing the wax seems to be enough. I'd rather do the claying to make sure there aren't any contaminants sealed under the fresh wax than use the glaze/pure polish myself but it could be a toss up.
 
No. If you put polish on top of wax you will undermine your efforts. Research and use one or several polishes that will work well together BEFORE you apply the wax. The only things you should put on top of wax is additional coatings of wax or a detail spray that is wax friendly.
 
I would def apply the glaze b4 the wax, just wondering if a glaze is worth doin everytime I wax? Will it make it "that" much more shiny?
 
More and more, glaze is becoming a waste of time for me. Unless your goal is a concours d'elegance, there is no practical reason for applying a glaze.
 
Yeah, I don't get much (if anything) out of using glazes on excellent-condition b/c paint.



People over at MOL (where things are a little more glaze-centric than they are here at Autopia) claim that they put "pure polishes"/glazes over LSPs with good results :nixweiss
