Polish b4 FMJ? Advice needed

:howdy I'm a new member (you may have seem my new member post), but have been visiting for awhile so I've got some knowledge and skills, but need some expert advice.

Here is my $64,000 question:
I have some Menzerna FMJ and High Gloss Acrylic Spray coming in. I did not order the IP or FPII because a bud has some good cleansers and polishes already that I can tap. However, if the concensus is that using IP or FPII will make a noticable difference, then I will get one or both of these.

Currently I have access to the following prods. Which of these would be best to prep for FMJ?
* Poorboy's Pro Polish
* Optimum Polish
* P21S GEPC
* AIO

Prefer to apply product by hand, but have access to PC as needed. I will, of course, wash and clay (as needed) before hand.

Current condition of car - Fairly new, navy metallic pearl, with very minor swirls (not gonna mess with just yet).

Thx for your input and help.

Another vote for Poorboy's ProPolish. It will work by hand but would use a PC because almost any product is better served with applicatipion by a PC.

Like the feedback, looking good. Keep it coming! Thanks!

It's hard to beat FPII as a base for FMJ. Optimum would be my second choice. IMO, either of these should be applied by machine.

If you decide to apply by hand, AIO would be my top choice.

I'd choose anything Menzerna with a gloss rating of 5 or Optimum polish. They give the best possible final prep.

GEPC is a 'simple' cleansing lotion (but good), while AIO adds protection.

Great suggestions on polishing before FMJ. I'm convinced that it'll be worth my while, and $, to get some FPII, so I think I'll forego the full detail this weekend, order some FPII and then do a complete Menz detail next weekend or so. I just washed the car and I think I'll put some HGAS on it...

*** Question about HGAS durability *** How durable is this, compared to other spray sealants like UPPS, DP SS&S, etc.?

Bence - What are these gloss ratings and where can they be found?

I'm looking for the recommended curing times for FMJ & HGAS? I assume that FMJ should cure for 24 hours prior to either another layer or getting exposed to water/moisture, and I assume that HGAS like many other spray sealants should have 12 hours to cure?

:D

Just got off the phone with the vendor I bought the Menz stuff from, and they said (a) FMJ should not be layered (but can be) as it was made to only need a single layer, (b) FMJ looks best when only 1 layer exists, (c) 12 hour or overnight is sufficient cure time, and (d) HGAS can be applied immediately following the application of FMJ.

I'm not doubting their word, but I wanted to run it past fellow DC'ers to see whether in your experiences any of these items can or should be tweeked. Some of these seem really contrary to other sealants (layering looks better, cure for 24 hours) so I'm a tad confused.

I use several Menzerna products, on my Scooby, and my wifes Yukon. I almost always use IP, followed by FP, and then FMJ. I currently have three coats of FMJ on my scoob and think it looks great. I was always of the opinion you could layer it but you do need to let the previous coat cure before adding another. The stuff goes on super thin and buffs off even easier with virtually no dusting. If you start getting dust, you're putting it on way too thick. I think either of the polishes you mention would work well as your prep surface. Good luck with your project and post some pics when your done. I'm really trying to picture that blue pearl in my mind. Sounds beautiful though. :)
