Polish angel update Viking Coat

I recently emailed polish angel and had asked about which coating might be best for me after I explained my situation, what I've used in the past, etc, but haven't heard anything back.

I will also add that I just detailed my father and step mothers car and used vx2 pro. Previously the car had dimondite applyed to it, it's a 2011 and it was beading and shedding water very very well while washing it, the only issue was with the wash marring and lack of prep that the car had gotten prior to the dimondite application.

The 1 thing I have noticed with basically every coating I have used has been that dirt still does stick and water spots still show up, which is ok, but these are embedded into the coatings. No matter what anyone may say, a solid sealant or wax does a better job of preventing this etching, spots are ok, but etching sucks.

I also know that many here are not much on 22ple, but it's a product I've had less trouble with in terms of application, and imo overall performance.

With all of that being said, I think that coatings have their place, and we all like to have a hard film on our cars that prevents scratches and other issues, but the need to add reload, (vs1 or whatever it's called), ir any other topper is simply the marketing way of making more money, so between that, and the need for "reset" washings with some special additive or something else is ultimately costing more.

I still think it's hard to beat powerlock or a collinite fleet wax, SG, etc. The tried and true methods are hard to beat and always will be.

Coatings are soaking up all the oxygen on car care forums everywhere. The etching and water spotting is a huge issue. I like the ease of washing after a coating is applied, but I've got similar if not better hydrophobic results from sealants such as sonax polymer net shied, and synergy without the hassles of coating prep and application issues. Given the choice, I prefer a super sealant over a coating after trying several coatings on various cars. Coatings scratch, suffer from increased water spotting and etching, need maintenance polishing and/or replacement. They are a tiny step up from a super sealant...but frankly, not that much imo. I don't mind having to apply a sealant twice a year. Big freakin deal. Even using hydrofoam for example every month would be fine as everybody has to wash.

Guys, I came back to post that my car looks amazing. Today I made 3 sales calls and one was for Lunch.

I have never received so many compliments on the way it looks. I did see some fall of on the tightness of the beads on horizontal panels (the roof especially).

I have driven 2,700 miles since it was installed and that included some pretty nasty extended driving in Vermont on dirt Roads in the rain which made me question why I was in my car not my truck! I got an AWD car thinking it would make all but the deepest snow easily passible. The low profile tires on the Sport are not as good as they were on the NON sport in the foul weather.

I will try a reset wash an see if that helps.

Overall I am very happy with the looks, I just think I have a condition called Hydrophobia. Fear of not beading the best it can for an extended time. I get Hydrophobia from 22PLE and EXO v2 without the drop off in 2 Months. Those were put on the Jeep and MDX prior to the Vilking Coat on my Infiniti and they still bead like new. If the Viking Coat stay where it is for another 18-22 Months I good with it. If it keeps skipping I am out of it for good. TIme will tell.

I would like to try other coatings as I am chasing hydrophobia, easy cleaning and good looks. I never though I would say this but the Viking coating looks waxie and I have grown to love the look. Hope it lasts. I have never gotten more complements on how my car looks since I put the Viking coat on it.

did you see a viking in your head, with a hat, snow on top of his beard. you imagined cold climate. you were led to believe your car was in the middle of a winter storm & viking coat was what you needed but we are still in summer time. its hot out! have you tried Cquartz coatings?

he likely has, but I'll just tell him they suck now.

OP..... they suck

Actually not a vision at all. I won a Facebook random contest and was sent the Viking coat and escalate for free to review for you fine people. I decided to do a follow up to the initial review and this was it. In fact it's raining here today and I believe it most likely is in Plainview as well. I'll post a picture of the beading.

If I was going to buy a product on name or advertising alone it would be called :

"smoking hot babe coating".

"Make you car Bead like the well oiled, smoking hot babe from the wet t shirt contest back in 1985 on the strip of Ft Lauderdale before they cleaned it up for families!"

That I would buy, not some big hairy guy, with 2 horns coming out of his hat, with a beard in the cold. But that's just me.

I am looking for super hydrophobic beads that last. A car that is easy to maintain and a coating that is mar resistant to environmental nonsense like bird bombs, road kick up and stays looking good dispite all the junk the world does to your car when your not watching it.

I try everything I can to compare it to each other. That's the only true way I can find what is best for me. I have tried cquartz the original version. It was nice looking but it sheets more than it beads. IMHO. I don't like to top a coating and the reload had alot of people polishing their cars so I never opened my bottle. I preferred the Evo v1 to it. I've recently applied gloss coat, 22ple, Exo v2 and Viking cost to my cars and I'm letting them run until I deem their useful life is over ( or performance drops enough to make maintenance washed a pita) or until I decide to polish one off and recoat it with the latest and greatest.

So you see it was a contest prize and It was a desire to try a product line I knew little about and share it with the forum at the same time. It's a different coating from the rest I have tried. Mostly in the way it's installed (first coat da applied). The polish nor the coating stain trim so taping is minimal, and it have a long set up time so installation is easy and high spots are a non issue. It looks like wax, but last longer (already). What got me super interested was a post here of a Subaru in world rally blue that looking so over the top I decided to try the line. Search trkent here and you will see the post of the car I am referring to. It looked better than amazing.

Forgive the sarcasm in my post but maybe it's because I expected more from you,as a professional detailer than some suggestion that I purchased the product on the vision of a Viking. Say aren't you they guy who uses the stripper scent product.....? (Perhaps not but perhaps)

This is the reason I stopped telling my experience about products I have purchased and use. I got the same thing about applying menzerna SF4000 which was told on how to apply by Smack who`s views and opinions I trust here on Autopia. Myself like Silver Fox I have leaned toward wax / sealant products for me a Weekend Warrior :)

I do have Viking Spritz I am using on my Toy Thanks to Vega and I like it . Here in the Burgh come January I will get my horns and big hat on :)

I am asking that you don't let detractors stop you from posting. This site has had a sharp decline in traffic over the past few months. It won't stop me. I enjoy reading about others experiences and processes. Detailing is a hobby for me. I do it because I want my cars to look their best. I learned a lot from professional on TID and now here. There were many more pros posting in the past. Seems like it's the weekend regular guys who are regulars and keeping the traffic going

Other than less volume I'm more concerned with quality. I hope you keep posting and I sure will.

I'd actually like to try the cosmic and rapid wax I've read about. Nothing is perfect but there are better products. As long as the price:benefit relationship it there I will give it a whirl.

Don't let others stop you from what you want to post. This is an open forum and I'm glad it is. Just ignore the wet blankets.

I hear you, there are so many good products and so little time for a senior citizen like myself :)

Thanks for paypal credit since checks come begging of month :)

technically, won't klasse ksg provide much of this for 20.00 a bottle? I understand for a sealant it's pretty hard when cured, maybe layered as well.

UMMMMMMMMM.............how about you apply the Viking Coat, send me the cosmic and I will do 1/2 my car and report back :)

I must be sick in the head that I even want to re polish another car this season and re coat it. I've done my Infiniti, MDX, Jeep and Subaru all since May. You would think I would be ready to just enjoy them.

I think I gotta get some professional help. I mean professional detailer help LOL

Where is this falling short?

Did you apply the spritz after application?

I have this (with the spritz) and cosmic, I am trying to decide which one to apply.

Supersport is really impressing me as well. I have had it on my wheels for about 4 months and its going strong. It was applied over permanon, and only cleaned with wash soap. I have had tire cleaners and citrus APCs on it from tire cleaning with no adverse issues.
