Please pause and remember 9-11

Never Enuff

New member
As I sit here with tears in my eyes, watching a replay of the disaster 15 years ago, I ask all members to please stop on Sunday, if only for a minute to remember what happened to our country on 9-11. In my life time, I will never be able to THANK all the hero`s of that day, all the first responders and the normal citizens that helped their fellow citizens without fear for their own lives.
God Bless all of you, and God Bless America!

I will always remember 9-11. I`ll make sure to keep all those who were involved in my thoughts. Especially the military members who have served, fought, died, and continue to fight the evil and protect our freedoms.

Thank you for your service.

9-11 will never be forgotten in my mind unless amnesia but it struck close for me as a dear friend of mine was in pentagon when hit, he wasn`t harmed but still close. i grieve for those who lost a loved one or friend that day.

I wasn`t there but I was about 5 miles from the Trade Center on business when it happened. The part I remember is the frantic people moving about yet there was a lack of typical chatter, the look in their eyes and what just seemed to be a common understanding of what was happening is still fresh in my mind. No one knew what to expect and there seemed to be a shared concern that there was more to come. It was very somber. We wanted to get out of the city and everything was in the process of getting locked down. We got the last Hertz rental car available and also caught the last ferry they let out for a 3 day period. We drove straight from New York to Utah. I was glad to be home. Can`t believe I will ever forget the experiences of that week.

I do not believe 9/11 will ever be forgotten. The images are burned into my mind and our nations consciousness. America learned a hard lesson that day, and it like the attack on Pearl Harbor, it will live in infamy. I was living in Honduras that day and remember thinking that it had to be a hoax, until I saw the second plane hit, then I knew it was real. It is still painful and recalling it brings tears to my eyes. It was truly a national tragedy.

One of the worst days of my life. Lost many friends and my old EMS partner. RIP LT. Ronnie Gies, FF Brian Sweeney, and NY Presbyterian Hospital Paramedic Keith Fairben. Rest in peace my brothers.

The purpose of the original thread was to THANK the first responders and others for their sacrifices on that day and ask people to never forget. If you would like to start some sort of a political thread about your feelings feel free to do so, but I think you have posted on the wrong thread!

I choke up pretty much every time I see or stop to remember the firefighter standing at attention as the presidential motorcade drove by. He was messy with dust and fighting backing tears, but he stopped to salute he CIF. That`s a patriot.

I remember my neighbor telling me a plane hit the 1st building and watching on her TV the second plane hit. I remember telling my wife to prepare for the phone call, because I was going to be called into work (even here in Ohio LEOs were called in from days off/vacations etc) to help cover in case something else happened. I remember rushing to the school to pull my kids out. I remember working two weeks of 12`s with no days off with my partner watching gasoline hit over $6 in the following panic and people lining up to buy gas at that price.

I remember watched the toll rapidly rise and thought of how much bigger that number would be if they included the families of the victims. I remember desperately wanting to go to Ground Zero to help and how I was crushed when I couldn`t manage to make the trip. And I remember the horrific loss of innocence suffered by anyone who was old enough to understand the meaning of what happened.

Remember 9-11? I will NEVER forget.

I always will remember this day. I will always pray for those who were involved. This was a tough day for this country. May God bless all that were and are involved

We had a request to close this thread. I believe that most would agree that there are some good posts in it. A couple of the posts that were taking this thread sideways have been unapproved to allow it to continue. A reminder for all, no personal attacks and keep the posts tasteful. 9/11 is something that deserves being remembered. Thanks.

I`m on a plane now and I did feel funny flying on 9/11 when I booked this trip. I was local when it happens. Close enough to smell it and see it from afar and I thank all those who responded when they were needed and wish the families of those who lost first responders and innocent bystanders the strength to cope and press forward.

I remember it like it was yesterday even after all these years...

Thanks to all who sacrificed so much - we will never know all that you did, but there is one who does know and He is the most important one..

Nothing has hurt more than to personally see the utter destruction and horrible tragedies of the loss of human lives on this earth...

We are so Blessed to know that each one of those dear, wonderful, loving, men, women, and children, who lost their lives here Gained Eternal Life at that instant, and were individually, welcomed there by the most loving arms of our Savior...

He personally dried their tears, and gave them comfort in a way that was so needed..

And they also think about this day, as they are exactly as they were before they left us; and want us to know that they are ok, and looking forward to the beautiful reunions one day, that will make all these families - all mankind - whole again...

For anyone who awake on 9/11, it was a sobering time that one will never forget. I was in a business meeting so missed it live on TV.

As an aside, it seems to an impossible challenge to fight a major fire in a tall building. You think of all the fireman trying to go up the stairs with full equipment.
