This weekend I finally got to use my Zaino, however I had some problems. I used my P/C 7336 RO to apply Zaino Z-Pc, well tried to. I did my dad's `95 chevy 1500 Silverado, but I could not get the swirls out. I got about 80% out on the hood, but the rest I didn't bother. I used a decent ammount on 2 differant cutting pads. What did I do so wrong, or does it naturally take a while to remove swirls. I used it at about 4.5 setting. Can someone guide me?? I really want to get my cars to have a swirl free deep finish. I thought Z-Pc would be good since every one says it is great. should I have used z_7 on the pads before applying Z-Pc? I am so lost, some one guide me!!

Run the PC at 6 all the time, on any other setting you are just wasting your time, IMO. I have not used ZPC, so I will not comment on that, however on a 12 year old truck I would guess it needs something a bit more agressive.

I've never used Z-PC so take this for what it's worth. Based on this......

......it sounds like you may have used to much. That in combination with a setting of 4.5 means you probably didn't break the product down enough.

No, Z-7 is for washing. Did you mean Z-6?

Yeah, up the speed a bit, 5.5-6, get that thing buzzin!

However don't be worried if you can't get everything out. I did some work on the hood of my GA and I didn't get absolutely everything out but it is a daily driven car. I can't expect miracles from the paint for the crap it goes through up here in the rural area and in the winter. Some stuff can be quite deep I guess, but I guess you have to weigh how much clear you want to remove vs. the look you want. Regardless, even if there is still some scratches in there, you have definately made a hell of an improvement that will still dazzle!

Yes, I meant Z-6. Anyway, I will try less product and 5.5 or 6 speed. The directions said a moderate speed (?) so I just guessed. About how much product should I use?(name a coin or some object I can reference) Should I spray Z-6 on the Z-PC pad? How much time should I be spending on a panel like a hood?

I would have never guessed I was using too much. I am planning on going at either my BMW 528i or one (of two) SAAB 9-5s avalible to me. I suspect the SAAB paint will be easier, and since I am a beginner, I want to have the satisfaction of doing one well. What cutting pad should I use? I have a modete/strong pad and a light/moderate pad.

Thanks,

Wade

zpc is a medium swirl remover at best...so you probably wont get everything out...and definitely like everyone else said crank the speed up to 6...the pads you are describing are fine...time to grow your addiction and get more swirl removers like menzerna, optimum, xmt, poorboys, or whatever else tickles your fancy...maybe pick up the entire edge or lake country pad system while you are at it if you need more pad selection...

Crank that baby up to 6!! To remove heavier swirls, u will need a light cut or better pad. I have found that a couple dime size drops to the pad works best.
