Please give me your thoughts on this combo!

Well, I hate to say bit thos coming weekend will be the 3rd weekend in a row that I'm going to detail my car. I'm very particular, a bad thing sometimes, but I want my car to look as good as possible. The car is a 2006 VW Rabbit, solid black. I'm starting to think that a black car for a daily driver was a bad idea but too late now.



The car has been ploished out with the Blackfire SRC and a green CMA pad, weekend 1. I topped that with FMJ by hand, looked good but not the best. Weekend 2, went over the car with p21S paintwork cleaner with a white polishing pad on a PC. I then topped that with DG 601/105/AW. I can still see some faint swirling in direct sunlight so that's not cutting it for me either.



Now, I have since bought some VMG, RMG and Natty's blue. I've yet to actually use a wax on this car since I bought it last July. So my big questions here are:

1. Mix the VMG with the RMG and apply via PC with blue or white pad?

2. Apply VMG with white pad and RMG with blue pad seperately?



I'm going to do the NB by hand obviously but I hope this will work for me. :confused: Also, what is a good product to maintain with the NB?



I'm sorry for the 20 questions but I'm very frustrated at this point.....

I like the blacked out emblems. I also like the GTI skirts on the Rabbit. Works well on your car.



I would try to apply VMG and RMG separately.



I use Natt's on my wife's A4 and I just keep it up with Meguiar's Final Touch detail spray. I hit it with AW once a month also.
 
Oh yeah, your question. Mix the VM/RM, put it on via white pad. If you want to take it a step further, apply RM with the blue finishing pad at speed 4 and really work it in until it basically disappears. Then apply nattys by hand. I'm thinking just the pink moose mix with the polishing pad should finish off just fine, even on black.
 
My girlfriend has the exact same car purchased about a month after you bought yours.

OP with the PC was able to eliminate everything. I will probably be doing the same during the next few weeks if I ever get a chance.



If the car is in good shape the RMG will help hide some of your minor swirls. The natty's to top will help as well. Just maintain with any QD and reapply the nattys once a month.



Black is always going to have some marring so it is much safer to hide the minor stuff.



Here is her car now with some minor mods. It has been washed using ONR over the winter and has a few coats of OCW. It does have some minor swirls, a nice door ding and a random scuff mark now :wall

P.S. are those the Hella smoke Ecodes? They look good! What did you do with your stock headlights? I am looking for a set to smoke.

As for the headlight question, yes, they are the smoked Hella's. I sold the stock ones a while back, tried to recoup some of the $ for the Hella's.



audicoupej, on your gf's Rabbit, have you noticed any what looks like pitting/dots in the paint?

Always apply and remove waxes in linear motions the way wind flows. Never use circular (at least I don't/won't)



The Hellas look good. I am thinking of holding out for GLI, Jetta 2.0T, or GTI HIDs. They will be cheaper at some point.



Besides the orange peel I have not noticed any flaws. Any particular locations?



Your dub looks great BTW! :2thumbs: What suspension are you running?

The spots are mainly on the hood, look like very tiny pits in the clear and stand out like a sore thumb in the sunlight. As far as the suspension goes, H&R sports in the front, H&R race in the rear....long story.
