Please critique my process - PC & pads and 2 cars

Hey guys

Gonna practice using my new PC & my dap kit on my sister’s one year old PT cruiser. Paint really isn’t to bad considering it’s never been washed and stays outside all year long

Figure on her car (blue) I’s start with DACP with a white pad – then use another white pad and treat the car with Klasse AIO then one coat of Klasse SG

Now dad’s 03 Lexus ex300 (burgandy) is in a lot worse shape (plan to do his Sunday) because he pretty much uses SOS pads to clean his car  it’s full of swirls so again I figure id hit it with the DACP but with the sheepskin pad then AIO with the yellow pad and then one coat of SG with the grey pad

Thanks for your advice

I would assume the paint doesn't have any major swirls or scratches if it hasn't been washed. If so, is there really a need for the DACP? Maybe something like Meguiars Swirl Free Polish or 3M SMR will take care of any existing problems. AIO after DACP or SFP/SMR will work fine.

I'm not a fan of the sheepskin pad. I would just us a yellow pad with DACP. If the car is really bad you'll have to go over the car twice with DACP/Yellow Pad. I'd stick with a white pad and AIO.

You may have to step down to SFP/SMR and white pad after DACP.

Never thought of that - since she doesn't wash her car there are really no swirls or scratches... I might just try the AIO & SG but Dad's car will need the dacp (damn i bought 32 oz of the stuff ;) )

Thanks for your suggestions

Best

I bought a gallon of DACP... can't get enough of the stuff :xyxthumbs

Another note on following up w/ the SFP or SMR - DACP sometimes leaves a "cloudy" finish, so that's why you might need to follow up with a less agressive polish.

I assume that you're going to clay both cars as well? Is it me, or is everybody using other people's cars as a guinea pig to test out their new PCs instead of their own? ;)

good question on the clay but would i really need to clay if i am using something as aggresive as DACP??

gonna have to see if i can find some SFP or SMR locally

Bass- Claying is so different from polishing that it's not an either/or situation.

If you use DACP by PC with a cutting pad, you'll almost certainly have to follow up with a milder product/pad combo.

ok going to start the process on Sis' car - will wash, clay, AIO & SG

wish me luck and Thanks

tomorrow it's Dad challange - DACP, #9 AIO, SG :) god i love this stuff

Isn't that the whole idea ? :spot

Bass, good luck - give your father a nice (early) father's day present.

Bass - I've had really good results from DACP followed by SSR1.

Had mucho difficulty with the AIO/SG twins and gave them up in favor of PPP and EX-P/EX layered

before and after two cars in 8 hours

before on Sis's car used clay AIO +1 and SG+1 (i will add another coat of sg next weekend)

Why can't I do that??!!!

Man, this is depressing.

you can and it was easy (to a point) !!!!

the best thing to have is a PC (just got mine this weekend) and the right combination of PC pads and products of your choice – don’t think I could have gotten the shine by hand

what a difference :)

Agreed--just did my father's Crimson Pearl Caddy STS this weekend with PC and 3M PI-III-MG followed by #16, what an incredible difference. The metallic popped on it.
