Playing with the test bed

The test bed is a black 1990 Olds Cutlass supreme, it’s been parked since 2003. I am only using it to test out products & combos

The hood was 1st wiped down with Poorboy’s Spray and wipe.

Then polished with Optimum polish applied by PC at 5-5/2 with a LC polishing pad.

Followed by Clearkote’s Vanilla Moose, also applied by PC @ 5 with a LC polishing pad.

It was then topped with Wolfgang’s Deep gloss paint sealant

Then it was spit shined with chilled S&G and Natty's original

Yeah I know it was probably a waste of time and product but I had a little bit of time to kill and I didn't have the time to give my car the going over it needs, and it is supposed to rain tonight too.

I'm open for questions, comments, or sacrastic remarks.

OK, you win :bow :bow I want a black car!!!! ;)

VERY
NICE work, "J"!! :bigups :bigups

PS - There is no such thing as a "waste of product" to the truly obsessed!! ;)

i really need to get motivated to detail my truck and jetta. Jetta is an 05 and looks like crap wiht all the pollen and dirt from the landscapers that come. then it rains on top of it.

A lot of work to for a test car. I'm envious to much rain here to detail.
The black paint looks real good.Glad to see you have the energy!!

Awesome- that looks good! I do the same thing when I'm bored or have time. Or just when I haven't cleaned in a while I go and detail something. Thanks for the pictures.

Hi Jay. Nice work on a test vehicle. It is work well spent not only for you but the forum as well. Thanks for the work!

I am interested in the first three pictures of your post. It appears that the vehicles paint is in good condtion since not being moved since 2003. I love S&W. I use it practically everyday. Your other two products I have read of often but have no real working knowledge of.

Is it just me or do I see a steady advance of clarity in the paint surface thru the first three pictures? The leaves on the tree in the first picture are clear with the use of S&W. The second picture is clearer with the use of Optimum Polish. Even though I see no hazing, the VM is more clear in the last picture.

Of course I suppose, that this is exactly what it is supposed to do, is it not?

Thanks to everyone for their kind words.

Joe:
It wasn't all that much work really, I only did the hood the rest of the car looks like...well, lets just say I did the hood. If it rains, it rains... no great loss.

Budman:
Thanks, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who just gets an itch to polish something

I enjoy the polishing and waxing and it gives me alot of satisfaction to see that reflection. As for the paint being in decent shape, that's probably because it doesn't get touched that much. It gets polished about 2-3 times a year and it doesn't get washed till I want to try something new or I just get bored, So there isn't any marring being introduced.

I hope it got clearer I'd hate to think I did all that and there was no change :stick
The neat thing is I set up a tripod a few feet in front of the car, so you are looking at it from the same identical angle with each pic, the only that changed was the zoom.

I had fun doing it and I hope others enjoy it as well
