Hello,

I know this topic has be covered before but I can't exactly seem to find what I am looking for. If someone could answer a these couple questions i would appreciate it.

I have a Makita Rotary Polisher and for the last year I have been using a Meguiar's foam backing plate and CCS Lake country pads, specifically Black White and Orange. Some how the backing plate got damaged and I need to buy a new one. I know that even the thickness and compound used for a backing plate can effect correcting capabilities and ease of use. So What I would like to know is which backing plate I should go with and why?

I am not sure what size pads I am currently using. I would say they are medium sized pads. I would also like to buy a set of large pads for parts like hoods and trunk lids, and I am also looking for the smallest pad available for areas like inside a corvette taillight or for a small air dam. What is the largest size pad available, and what is the smallest pad available; what size backing plate would i need for each?

Finally, I am looking for a foam gun, foam lance, or foam cannon that I can hook up to my power washer to give me maximum suds!!!! Which one am i looking for?

This link will give you the idea.... YouTube - Snow Foaming The ford focus ST

Finally, are there any sales anywhere currently?

Thanks guys,

Dan

I would suggest picking up a Meguiar's W66 backing plate, which can be used on 7-inch pads and bigger: Meguiar's Rotary Backing Plate

For 5.5-inch to 6.5-inch pads, I really like the 3M 09553 backing plate. It is a little pricey, but well worth the $: 3M 09553 Perfect-it Rotary Backing Plate

ADS sells a 3-inch backing plate with pads to go with it found here: Buff & Shine 3" Backing Plate 5/8" Thread Rotary

If you get the 3-inch plate & pads above, I suggest picking up an extension as well: Buff & Shine Rotary Buffer Extension for 5/8" Spindle

The 3-inch backing plate & pads with the extension works great for hard-to-reach areas like Corvette tail lights as seen below...
