Place grit guard in rinse or wash bucket?

The only "issue" I have with my grit guard and my 5 gallon bucket is that I essentially lose about 1.5 gallons of usable water/shampoo. This means that I pretty much every time need to make a 4-5 gallon batch. Not a huge deal though.

I originally bought 2 grit guards, one for the rinse and one for the wash bucket. I ran into the same problem, because like P1et mentions, you lose about 1.5 gallons of usable solution. On a regular size car, I only need to make between 1-1.5 gal of solution, and I'd rather not waste more soap than I have to.

Because of that, I use both my grit guards in my rinse bucket. I'm the type that likes to scrub my wash media against the grit guard (like you're supposed to do anyway). Having 2 in one bucket is nice because IMO it works better at preventing the water from swirling and kicking dirt back up, but I don't have to dip my hand/arm that deep into the rinse bucket to clean out my wash media.
