Pinnacle Souverän vs Pinnacle Signature Series II - or best?

Hi guys,

So I have been an mild detailing enthusiast for over 10 years with my BMWs. One of my biggest issues with detailing is prepping the paint by compounding, polishing, glazing, and it all looking great, then throwing wax on and having issues. The issue is I own 3 BMWs with darker paint. My one car is Oxford Green, my other is black, and the third is Iceland Green which is more of a medium green with a sort of pearl/metallic effort going on in direct sun. Both green cars are dark in the shade/overcast and of course black is black. The oxford green is heavily metallic and Iceland Green is more mildly metallic, but none the less.

I have used a number of waxes and had been told by friends that S100 was great so I had picked that up long ago. It works ok. My step dad had picked up P21S so I tried that, its nearly identical to S100 in my opinion. I rotated between those and my ordinary Meguiars gold, mothers, etc., and found that they were all just "ok". My issue is that on the darker metallic cars I get dark "more wet" looking areas with the S100 and P21S. If I used Meguiars or the like, they come up fine, but weren't nearly as glossy/deep. So, while S100 was nice and wet looking, I really had trouble getting it up even letting it dry, not letting it dry, and using a micro fiber to buff.

I then tried Pinnacle Souveran that my step dad got as a gift one year - WOW. It was deeper and wetter like S100 but it didn't leave the greasy/oily dark areas that were hard to take up. So I used that seldom and he and I depleted his jar and he bought it again. Not wanting to use his products up, I want to pick up my own. That was the first premium wax I had used and at $75 - $95 ea, its high. But it works well. I noticed theres a Signature Series II wax thats almost 1/2 the price. I have been very impressed by Pinnacle products so I doubt I would be let down, but I just want to get some feedback. I spend a LOT of time bringing my paint up and after spending so much time compounding and polishing and then top coating with a oily wax thats hard to take up, I get frustrated. I want to avoid all that.

What are your thoughts on Souveran vs SSII and, or, what about other waxes? Looking in the $30 - $75 range for a good wax that will work great on dark to medium metallic greens. Let me know!

Thanks,

Jon

Which Meguiars wax's did you try, they have a lot. #26 and Ultimate wax look almost as good as PS on black, but they don't attract nearly as much dust.

I picked up #26 but haven't used it yet. Is it good? Its liquid and I tend to prefer paste but that doesn't matter.

I'd certainly give it a shot, you'll have to blow a whole lot more money to get better results.

Jon K- IMO if you *really* love how the Souverän looks, then you oughta just stick with it. I have a car on which it's simply *perfect* looking, exactly the look I'm after, so that's it...end of discussion where that car's concerned.

And IMO it looks *completely* different from P21s, zero comparison; I tried the P21s on the same car and hated it so much I cleaned it all off and redid it with the Souverän, something I hardly ever do.

But on anything that gets even remotely normal use, I'd sure want something that protects better and lasts longer. Souverän is my wife's fave on her Audi, but I'm not gonna rewax the car that often :grinno:

Thanks Accumulator yeah I gave in and bought Souveran again with AG running 20% off and then I had another coupon its costing me $75 shipped. I guess thats better than $95 plus s/h usually. I just cannot deal with P21S and S100 on the darker cars it looks oily. Do you know if Pinnacle SSII is similar to Souveran? I guess not else why would there be two versions with one being 1/2 the price, right?

I guess I will stick with it - I just want to venture out, maybe theres something even better!

No idea, but I vaguely recall somebody here saying that the SSII was, in his opinion, inferior.

But yeah...significantly different product, big price diff, I wouldn't expect them to be very comparable. And again, IME the paste Souverän is simply unique.

The main difference SSII has polymers in it, for increased durability. I have Souverän on one of my cars now. It looks great. Its primarily for a car that gets garaged or a person who likes to wax their car a lot.

I've also used Zymol Glasur. It looks nice as well, with much better durability. Shortly I'll be replacing Souverän with Capture the Rapture by Bouncers. I'm looking forward to comparing them.

Swanicyouth- I'll be interested in that comparison. I've yet to find any other LSP that looked *identical* to Souverän, including some that people *assured* me would look just the same (e.g., the TOL stuff, forget its name at the moment... ...maybe Trade Secret)

Pinnacle Signature Series II will highlight the flakes in metallic paint and is more durable than Souveran

Pinnacle Souveran has a 'warm gloss' that has to be seen, but will tend to darken paint (black, yellow, reds) this is more of a show car wax.

I'll be changing up the Souverän for Bouncer's CTR in the next couple weeks. I'll post a review on AG if your interested. I'll post a lot of pics, but I'm no photographer, so mostly it will be my opinions.

For what its worth I think Souverän looked better than Glasur.

You need to try HD Nitro Seal. Super glossy with great depth. I've had it last 18 months on a clients black car and it outside 24/7.

I love how it washes. The paint feels like there's a thick glassy layer over it and the wet towel seems to hover over it without any drag.None of the waxes I've ever used does this to this degree. It feels bullet-proof, lasts forever, and looks amazing.

Can't recommend it enough.

My black Audi will wear nothing but Souveran. Heck, it even looks great on my white '89 Coupe de Ville. It's one of the deepest looking products on the market IME.
