Pinnacle Disappointment

I made a fairley large Pinnacle order a few weeks ago, along with a P.C., and I have to say I am VERY dissappointed. The advanced swirl remover and swirl remover didn't touch a single scratch, even with the orange cutting pad...NOTHING!! I just currently started working at Abra Auto Body, and they use 3M across the board and...WOW!! 3M is so easy to use, and works so well...damn near perfect results. Got a little scuff? A little 3m compound on a rag and BAM! it's gone. With pinnacle you would need to use the Advanced Swirl Remover with a cutting pad an moderate force to make the scuff just start to fade. And I know it's wasn't me, 'cause I had another person try the same stuff, on two cars.



HOWEVER! The Souveran Wax gave my truck the nicest shine I have ever seen. The shine is absolute perfection. Wet shine doesn't even start to explain it. My Graphite Dakota just glistens.



And now that I work at the body shop, I am going to work with the painter and we are going to sand out the orange-peel, paint a 'Super-Bee' stripe on it, and clearcoat the entire thing a few times. And needless to say with my killer discoung, my next order will be 3M, and Makita Polisher...I will keep the P.C. for polishing, and use the Makita for compounding.



I will try to get some pictures of my truck, but this weekend sounds like it's going to be crappy.
 
Just make sure the guy knows what he is doing as far as shooting the clear coat a few times. Clear coat it self can cause the orange peel effect if not done right.



Im another Souve lover myself and I havent even got to use it on MY OWN vehichle. I did use it on a Black 93 MR2 with nothing short of breathtaking results.



Good Luck with the paint project ahead though. :)
 
As for Pinnacle, I haven't tried there swirl removers but the shampoo at the crazy price it is for a gallon smelt nice but the PH level is too high and didn't do any better job than detailers pride, four star, wolfgang and eimann fabrik do at a better price.

Yes 3M is excellent. I use 3M Perfect It III Machine Glaze, Perfect It III Rubbing Compound, Finesse It II Machine Polish, Perfect It II Fine Cut Rubbing Compound, and Perfect It II Swirl Mark Remover. Great results by hand or machine.

Pinnacle's shampoo has a neutral pH of 7 when properly mixed (1 oz./3 gallons water).

This is why Autopia is so interesting. The Pinnacle line of swirl removers are so much easier for me than the Menzerna line, the 3M line, or DACP:nixweiss



I do love Menzerna and it does a great job, but considering removal difficulties, Pinnacle is my go-to product.



Are you really comparing a swirl remover to a paste compound "on a rag?" Parallel reasoning: an S2000 is worthless when trying to tow your 19' Grady-White. Did you find a similar product (to the swirl removers) that did the job for you?
 
I have had good luck with the Pinnacle swirl removers. I find almost all of the line is excellent and sometimes amazing like Souveran and MicroRejuvenator.

Menzerna is the easiest removal polish I've used. If you are having problems removing it, you are not working it long enough. I do use a rotary with this product for clarification.
 
I love both Menzerna and 3m polishes. The main reason I lean towards Menzerna is because of the warning on one of 3m's polishes saying it contained silica and is harmful to your health. I still use it once in a while because it WORKS great but wear a respirator when I do.

I'm very happy that this works for you and appreciate the advice. However, it is not the polished sections that require difficulty in removal, it is the "border" for lack of a better word. Working the paint long enough is no problem--it is the small outline of polish that doesn't get worked long enough that have earned Menzerna its "Gluezerna" nickname.



I never had any problems removing PG when using with the rotary, but IP and the PC always gave me a little trouble. The original FP looked terrific (as does the FPII), but removal ALWAYS required QD or IPA.
 
I'll let the others "opine" when it comes to the polishes. I just had to chime in on the Souveran Wax. IMO, Souveran simply has no equal! One could argue the P21S, S100,Meg's #26,Trade Secret etc provide a "similar appearance"..........but those products don't produce the depth & liquid shimmer of the Souveran. I love the Souveran so much, I might even rub some of it on my bald head!! lol;) ;)

Yeah, I have been sucked into Souveran for life, but don't think I will be going to anything other than 3M from now on.



Hopefuly I can find somebody localy to buy my Pinnacle stuff, they are still 3/4 full.

And I havn't even touched the QuickDetailer yet.
 
Cant comment on the Pinnacle swirl removers as I have other products for that, but as for Souveran I was a big doubter and never bothed till I got a black car. On my past cars sealants and Carnubas , CMW, EX, EX-P, Nattys, #26, #16. P21s, Blitz, NXT all looked very alike, Light and Mid blue cars.



Now with a black car the products really look different, I bit the bullet and had to try some souveran. CMW and P21s look really good and I would be happy with either, but Souveran on Black really does add something extra. Its more money, but I think its worth it. Over the same prep as as the other waxes, as a topper it is really something.



I have tried all sorts off combos and still am now they all look different, but as I like dit so much I grab another can of Souveran the other day from Autopia in the sale, even though I have used mine about 3 or 4 times ! A real winner.

I grew up in a body shop where many showcars were painted. I gotta tell you, my old man has used 3M products for years on award winning showcars (Compounds, polishes & glazes). With that being said, the wax is another story. The LSP that was used most of the time was either Souveran or Meg's (outside the shop of course!). 3M has been a staple for years for body shops and probably always will be. I would bet that most shops use 3M for the buff & Polish.
