Piling a wax on top of AIO & SG?

Ok, i've just been doing this in my head so far because i haven't gotten any of the products, they are all being ordered in a timely fashion so i can have everything at once. Anyway, from general reading a carnuba wax on a dark colored car (such as pinaccle) will yeild a very deep shine. I don't know if this is considered a dark colored car, its a 2002 GM Electron Blue Metallic paint (ppg). Anyway i was wondering about piling products here





If i use K-AIO and its SG - can i top the SG with a wax or will that defeat the purpose? I know that AIO is a cleaner/polisher and the SG is well a sealer glaze, but will the SG protect like a wax and will it bring the shine out like a wax? (from those of you who have done this already) I would like to know which route to go based on my color car. Any suggestions would be great. I have already purchased the Klasse Products to give them a shot but i am willing to expieriment based on recommendations, thank you .
 
This just popped in my mind too, i hate seeing hazy swirl marks on my hood - yes its freshly painted and the only thing that has touched the paint since it was done (march 27th from the fenders back and july27th 03 for the front) has been the buffing towels to get the glaze off of the car after it came out of the booth. I have only cleaned it with cold water and soothing carwash using an absorber, and absolutely no towels, however there probably are still swirls from the guys who like to use paper towels to buff stuff off at the shop.



Anyway - what are your thoughts on using Menzerna Intensive polish to completely rid the surface of swirls, then FP - K-AIO- top that with SG and for the grand finallie pinnacle or s100. Is this too much? Will they cancel each other out ? Whats the deal?



Is S100 the same as P21S? If not link to it?

Regardless, you need to wait at least 30 days (many people say 90 days) before waxing/sealing freshly painted cars.



Mnay polishes are not great either, and others are touted as safe for fresh paint. I believe IHG and Menz FP are ok for fresh paint.
 
Well the paint from the doors back have probably had enough time to cure since March 27th 03 but i just got the car back on July 27th for the front end and fenders to be repainted (don't ask!) What is more abbresive the IHG or the Menzerna Intensive?



I will hold off on my entire process for atleast another 30 days for everything i listed above unless its safe for me to polish with Menzerna or Imperial to remove the swirls and add a glossy look. I dont' drive the car in the rain so i don't really have to worry about it wearing off as polishes do from rain etc but i don't know if its a waste since i can't seal it. is KAIO and SG safe for freshly painted cars within 30 days?
 
IP is more abrasive than IHG. As I understand it, it is a tad more aggressive than SMR (I could be wrong).



I do not know whether IP is safe for fresh paint. On CMA's site, they clearly announce that FP is safe for paint:



Final Polish accomplishes this with micro-fine, precision milled, mineral abrasives, not with strong solvent cleaners. Menzerna Final Polish is a water-based polish, safe for fresh paint or factory cured paint with or without a clear coat. It will not affect the curing process of new paint and will not create swirls.

but no such announcement for IP exists.



Here is the desription for IHG:



3m developed Imperial Hand Glaze specifically for newly painted vehicles or “fresh� paint (less than 30 days old). It should be applied frequently for the first 30 days until the paint is cured and can be waxed.



After 30 days, Imperial Hand Glaze should be used prior to waxing to enhance surface gloss and produce a deep, “wet look� finish. Imperial Hand Glaze is nonabrasive, clear coat safe, and contains no wax or silicones.

My back right quarter panel was hit, and had to be repainted a few weeks ago. Last weekend, I was using GEPC on my car and completely forgot and used it over the freshly painted area. I did remember not to wax. Hopefully no damage was done. :(



Unless you constantly remind yourself not to wax the freshly painted areas, I'd hold off for 3 weeks. Ask the more experienced members here their opinion on waxing/sealing after 30 or 90 days.
 
I hope you've tried searching for some of these questions.... topping Klasse with a pure wax has been covered a zillion times in the past. :confused:



Remember that Klasse SG is NOT a glaze! Ignore it's naming. It's a durable polymer sealant kind of like Zaino that will protect better than a carnauba wax, not worse.
 
Sorry for not searching hehe - will try to do that more before posting. Ok so if SG protects better than most carnuba waxes than what about the shine in comparison? Can i top SG with P21S to bring out the depth and clarity of my car or is that really just doing nothing? Will that go through the SG to bring out the shine or remove the SG ?
 
The "look" of any product is in the eye of the beholder. I still have to redo my car this year :( and this time I don't think I'm going to rush forward and top it with carnauba so quickly. Try just the SG and see if you like it, or put wax on half of the car and look at it in different lighting from different sides/angles.



Some people are fans of Klasse only, others swear by the carnauba look. In the end it's up to you. :up
 
qwik- As Jestyr's post says, IHG is THE thing for freshly painted cars (there are some other products, but that is THE standard). It is as close to NON-abrasive as you can get. It WILL provide some minor protection, so if you're gonna drive the car you oughta put some on.



Yes, the AIO/SG/wax topper will REALLY protect your finish and you'll probably like how it looks, but wait until the paint has fully cured. If *I* were you, I'd be MOST concerned about the marring that's already happened to your freshly painted hood and how/why it happened.

Yeah. Not sure I'd want paper towels anywhere near my car ...



One thing to keep in mind about using the wax topper or not is that you can use carnuba over glaze, but you can't use glaze over carnuba, so get as many layers of SG as you want down beforehand, if you decide to top with wax. :)

Absolutely best advice, there is no way for anybody to tell what someone else is going to like without ever meeting that person.

All we can do is tell you our preferences and why we like it that way.
 
Ok - thanks for the advice guys, actually i shouldn't say that they were paper towels they are like the cheap somewhat soft buffing towels that come in a box that you can use one at a time. Not exactly terry or MF so still not the best. The front fascia/hood/fenders were repainted on July 19th 03 so its been about 20 or so days for curing, i'm going to wait until i get my bodyworks shampoo (on back order damn it) and my proper drying stuff than use the IHG as is recommended to use numerous times on the car by 3M during the curing process, than just wait til about its cured for 40 days.
