New member
Well I have been fortunate enough over the past few weeks to be able to take my business to the next level. After alot of overnight crams to make deadlines and prepare for meetings, i have finally landed one of what I hope to make numerous contracts. I am now the official on-site detailer for a local Country Club. I hope to grab a few more using the same procedure as this one, but with new recomendations from other club managers and members :bounce

Me, CoreybitSpank, and whom ever we bring onboard for help will be at the club every Saturday for the duration of the summer. This contract was finalized on thursday, and no mention really made to the members, but just by us standing out fron we managed to grab our first 3 cars: Jeep Grand Cherokee, Lexus IS300, and a mercedes SL430. I handed out a lot of cards, and set up several apointments for next saturday. It looks like we will be doing 6-10 cars every Saturday, and if there is more demand, we will also be working Wed. Anyhow, enough talking and me being over excited, the pictures from the day:

First the setup (this is half way through the day, i have better on my 35mm film):

And the mess after we wrapped up (notice the tent pole is bent in this one, and not in the setup one  damn wind!!):

I have more on my 35mm, i only used dig because corey had it, and i ran out of film. More to come next week, MANY more from this deal :D :D

congrats... that looks like a great setup and its probably a lot of fun! I suppose a country club is one of the better places to detail cars at. :)

You are on the right track. I remember when we talked for hours on the phone that one night in which you were helping me out starting my business. Keep doing what your doing, and I believe you will be one of the most sucessful detailers on the board. You will get numerous accounts and expand into something beyond what you thought from my perspective.

Congratulations on your account!

I wish you luck and profits!

With 6 cars in one day, how many guys are you working with and what is the routine / products used to achieve this?

6 cars is quite a number in one day for details!

It takes me 5 - 6 hours alone to do a full detail.

:o The pictures would have been better if I would have remembered to switch the settings to medium and medium sized. I'll get a bigger memory card this week so it can be our quick camera, haha.

Anyway, I had a good time. Worked a bit slower then I should have. Actually, I worked fast when it was sunny out, then it rained and I slowed down, and then it got sunny and I sped up. Stupid weather.

This is a great idea though. Once we're set up, we're set up for the day and we just bring the cars over.

:) Looking foward to this summer.

Ehh.... i just got up this morning, and although we only had 3 cars to take care of this week, i am still so sore. I have to be at the club at 5am to be fully set-up by quarter-to 7, it is a 1.5 hour drive for me, so i ahave to be up at 3! then set up that monsterous tent, and work.

- Thanks, yeah a country club is a great place, because not only are you getting the members as clients, and there are alot of them, you are also getting their neighbors and business associates when they tell their friends. Hopefully it will work out enough to keep me businer than busy for a long time!

Quaman

- Yep this is one of the big contracts that i mentioned. Now i just have to close one or two more!. thanks for the kind words, hopefully i can make all of that happen :)

Splichy

- I have me and Corey to do the actual detailing (machines and polishing and such. I will be bringing in temporary help on saturdays, i guess they can be called part-time, but all they will be doing is getting the cars washed and vacuumed, me and corey will polish them while those guys shampoo the floormats and scrup the tires, then they will clean the glass and put on the last step product while we detail the interior. I am hoping to create a system using 4 guys that will allow 3 cars to be detailed in a 4-5 hour window. As far as products, we have several PC's one rotary, a couple vacuums and a large compressor, chemicals: Washing with QEW, glass: Stoners IG, Polishing Poorboys SSR's, Menzerna twins, And DACP (the all around polish :)), Glaze: Megs #7, and VM (my favorite), LSP's: Wolfgang twins, EX-P, Klasse Twins, NXT, S100, Megs Gold Class, and Collinite

We are still able to pick and choose an appropriate product for each vehicle based on color, condition, and if it appears to be well maintained or if it needs a long lasting product cause they wont take care of it.

I think that answers what you asked, but i am not sure...

Congratulations!!!! I just landed a big deal myself. I am an exclusive detailer at a very large corporate business campus with over 100 companies, including UPS, FedEx, Citizens Bank, Penn Mutal, GMAC, and much more....I'm scared:scared .....my bank account won't be though!!!:bounce I'm also going to be looking into country clubs...they have the exact kind of clientele I'm trying to attract.:xyxthumbs

Congrats AJ!! If you need any help with the country clubs (they are not easy at all!!) Let me know, i ahve alot of information and some resources that you might like to use :)

I second the bank account thing!!! I love the idea that i could (not easily) be putting thousands/week into my accounts!!

Who did you talk to to get yourself the account at the corporate park, and how are you going to be advertisingto all of the companies in it?? Company e-mail lists? or are you just going to set up and hope?

Watch out or old guys in gold Mercury Grand Marquis will try to pull as close as possible so that they have get your attention without getting out of their car and tell you that you need to lose weight. :o

Because you know, I'm such the heifer. ;)

I went to the public relations executive for the real estate development company that owns the entire campus.....:spot I don't even have to advertise, she (public relations executive) handles all of the promoting for me. In fact, I'm doing a free full detail on her vehcile for helping me out so much. I got five "Light" details there on Monday if the weather holds up, if not, then I'll put them on Tuesday.

So the short story behind this is:

We are working along, and people seeing the huge tent and hearing the equipment etc... kept on stopping by to ask what we were doing, and if we would be back (we started this sat with no notice or any advertising at all!) So anyhow, this older man driving a big gold car stops right up along side of the tent (he obviously didn't want to walk over or get out of his car). Now this man seems to be the subtle joke making old man, we all know the type, you never know if they are serious or joking, but either way someone is bound to be offended. So he looks at Corey, and says to me "does he work for you?" of course i say "yeah, he is the best detailer that I have!" the guy tells me loud enough for Corey to hear "Well then you will have to detail my car because i dont let Fat kids touch it." Now mind you Corey is not fat, he can probably post a picture of himself, but he is not a very obese guy. The guy in the car was about the same weight as Corey, maybe 10lbs less. So i am trying hard not to laugh, and Corey is giving him a death stare, then the guy decides to continue, he tells us he has been going to the gym all winter in Fla. and that he dropped 20 lbs, and that Corey should go to the Gym!! I was having so much trouble not laughing that i had to walk away and tell him that i will see him next week. It was the most ridiculous thing ever.

Now you know the story :) :wavey

tpgsr,

Setting up your car detailing tent at a country club makes so much sense. I can imagine dropping off my car to you in the morning, playing 18 holes, grabing a bite to eat at the 19th hole, then driving off in my clean ride. How could life get any better. Congrats, and great idea.

:bounce It provided me with entertainment more than being offended. :xyxthumbs

That was really one of my main selling points. I figure that it takes 4-5 hours to play 18 holes on a saturday, and figure in some locker room time, and possibly a trip to the bar or dining room, i have plenty of time to work on several vehicles! As far as the club goes, it is a service that they are offering the members. I dont book the customers, the general manager handles that personally! Basically he tells the members that he is bringing us on site as a contractor, and gives them the price for their vehicle. They come to pick up the keys, i take down their member # and away they go. It is super convenient for me as i dont have to worry about collecting any $, the club pays me as often as i submit the invoices, and they collect from the members when they collect the dues. Aside from every saturday, i will also be there on certain holidays like the 4th when everyone is out golfing with the family, and Guest days too so that he can show the guests why his club is different from the rest, and drum up my business in the process. This has probably been one of the best moves that i have ever made, and hopefuly it will get bigger and better

oh i found one more, me! (reflected in the rear left quarter of the mercedes shown above) The orange peel is pretty bad:
