ok so I picked up a 3SGTE to swap into my n/a MR2 but when we pulled it out it was so rusty since it had been sitting for 4 years. anybody have an idea of how to fix it? I was thinking sand it down and paint it. Or if I must pay for them to be powdercoated.

I would think you are going to neet to strip it down and media blast that. Then if you wanted to you could paint it or jet coat it. Where you planning on just dropping that engine in and going?

As for the suspension I suggest throw those shocks out and getting new ones. I never recommend using used suspension parts.

need to get an ECU, coudln't find the AFM sensor gonna replace gaskets and clutch... maybe open it up and just check it out.

Other then that yea its just going to be dropped in.

so I can't sand through all of that rust and repaint it?

You can try to sand through it but most engine blocks are not smooth and have a rough texture which would make sanding them a pain in the rear.

id be more concerned that the engine is toast if its been stood 4 years

the car was rolled at watkins glen when he hit gravel and the wheel got stuck. If he was racing it when it went down I'm sure the internals are still fine.
