Photo Biz Cards

Just giving this threat a bumpski. Anyone carry Anthony's idea out and put it to work?? If so I would like to get some idea of your clients' response. Thanks!

Out of curiosity how fancy of a printer is needed for this for the picture to look professional enough?

I have a Canon 860 that I use to print my cards on and the photo quality is top notch. I think the printer cost me $130 after rebates .

Anthony O

I'm also interested in how the Photo cards worked out ? How about an update .

I have been doing this for awhile now and it works great. I put mine on a glossy 4x5 photo card, Martin.

IMAGE REMOVED!!!

Wow...this is a resurrected thread :)

Sorry I have not responded sooner but my wireless broadband has been giving me trouble.

These types of cards work great because people like to hand them out for you because they want to show off their car.

When printing make sure you don't cut corners and get cheap business cards. Spend the extra cash for some nice cards, ones that do not have perforrated edges are best. Do the cars picture on the front, your biz name and then print on the back side all your information.

Anthony,

Got a scan or jpg or anything of how this is laid out??? I'd love to see how your finished product looks..

What a great idea! I love it!!

(not to mention, working at an art school, I could do it for free!!)

Here is a quick little something I just put together with Photoshop.

I cut out a picture, created a new layer and dragged it in. Fill in the background with a color then add my text.

Created a new layer, duplicated the text then, made it vertical, faded it to give an appearance of a reflection and then did the same with the car. You can then fill in the extra space with your info.

The best shot to get is a side shot and thsi way you can add text around the car door area, or a nice side angle shot. I'll try and put up another example later. My broadband is still wacky, I am losing packets somewhere which causes me to take forecer toload up pages and such.

Ok here is something I did that is perhaps a bit too far on the wild side but hey.....I was bored and figured I would experiment a bit with this clients silver Z car.

I removed the "info" type text but just left my biz name in so many of you may get an idea of how to position the car and still leave room. Clients like these because it gives them a chance to brag a bit. Also don't be scared to experiment a bit, make your card stand out!

Great idea and the cards look awesome.

I was thinking the other day about making cards that are the hologram type. You know the type that you move side to side and it changes pictures. Before and after pics. It might be possible to make up a print run of the same pics, but i don't think it would be easy or cheap to do different cars.

Also i don't know if they would show enough detail to be a good example of before and after.

Anyone have any recomendations for a small but nice printer? I'm thinking about getting something that will work in my future detailing bay at a shop... and just bring the laptop to work everyday. This will also work wonderfully with my referral program.

These would be good for referral discounts as well. Do you guys have much luck giving discounts for customers who refer work to you? (giving both parties a dicount for the referral)
