Permanent marker on leather?

Bigs

Weekend Detailer!
I have someone that wan't to remove permanent marker off their leather seats. The son decided to test his talent on their leather seats! :)

So, what is best for that?

is it just a little mark or a big picture on the leather?

That going to be difficult. I know Carbosol will get it off, but the problem it is strong enough to take the color of the leather with it if you are not carefull.

They might be looking at replacement or a redye.

Well seems like the kid decided to make a mural! LMAO!

I haven't seen it but from what I heard, it's pretty bad.

A magic eraser will remove marker. I would test a small area first to ensure it doesn't pull out the leather dye and cause another issue.

I've also used Leather Masters Strong Cleaner on fresh spots with success. If the marker has been sitting on the spot for over a day, I'm not sure if this product will break down the stain. I've had hit & miss luck with ink/marker stains that have had time to dwell for a few days.

Depending on how long its been on there and weather conditions are going to determine what success you have...Stoners Xient is one that I keep on hand for this use and has produced great results for me....You might also read on this site from Leatherique I have used there products for cleaning and conditioning older leather and real dirty leather. they have a forum that I belong to and many have asked this same question...from what I have read is you are looking to get something that is going soak into the pores of the leather and lift it to the surface....there pristine clean solution is that type of product...Its time consuming but that sounds like what you are in store for....Lastly I would call your local dealership (any of them) and ask who they use fro leather and vinyl repair...all of the ones in my area have a mobile or fixed shop that they use...it maybe beyond your capabilities
