PC vs G220

I would say no.



You have to look at what most people are using out there and getting perfect results (the PC7424/7336)...



The G110/220 is not a bad machine, but it's not going to make your skills better.



I could have bought a flex, but I feel the lack of aftermarket and support out there doesn't make the extra power worth it for someone that may run their buffer once a week.



I took that extra money and put it into products and extra pads.



They have some nice deals on kits with the G110/220...if I had known about some of them I may have gotten a package deal.



I picked up my 7424 from coastaltool for $100 with the extra 6" counterweight included.
 
Some said G220 is about 20% more powerful and made from a new sketch. Is that true? If the price is not too different (only $10-15), I think it's worth a try. So sad, I've ordered a PC from autogeek. Otherwise, I would get a G220. Suggestions are welcome.

That is a great comparison chart but there are a couple of things worth noting. The G100/PC they list are the same specs for a PC7424 and the UDM is the original UDM 1000 that is no longer being sold. The current UDM is now basically a rebadged PC7424 so the specs for it would be under the G100/PC.



BTW, for those asking the G110 is the U.S. version (120 volt) and the G220 is the overseas version (240 volts).
 
the specs listed on the autopia-carcare website for the UDM are still the same as the UDM-1000 and not the same as the PC7424. I know it still says "By Porter Cable" but does that mean the specs of the machine changed even though its a rebadged PC?

The specs on this page have changed from the previous 4.2 amp motor to 3.7 amps (the same as a PC):

The old UDM and the PC 7424 (and the new UDM) are different machines that share a lot of similarities but the specs are not the same. Porter Cable rebadged PC's for Meguiar's that were sold as G100's and that is what they are also doing with the new UDM.

still says 4.2 amp, I think your right though that its only 3.7amp now, but still it makes you go hmmmm with one page saying one thing and another saying something else.....
 
After ordering a PC kit from autogeek, Meguiars' supplier in my country contact me that G220 will be available in my country in next week for the price just slightly more than PC. So, will it be a regret to order my PC??? Please suggest. I'm now waiting for my shipment to arrive.
 
I bought a PC when I was also looking at the G series and Flex/Cyclo's.



I am not doing this everyday 8 hours, I don't need to spend a fortune...what I need is something that works and that I can get the parts I need to use it.



Basically everything out there is made for the PC. The G series can share these parts, but at $50 more. It's all about price points. It's only $50, but then you can apply that to some more MF or a few more pads or more chemicals, and then what if you just spent another $50 :)



I was into this for about $500-600 getting re-outfitted again...I could have spent 3x that easily and maybe saved myself a few hours here and there...but I had to draw the line.



IMHO learning to use whatever buffer you end up with and choosing the right pad/chemical combination goes a lot further than amp ratings and features. When you get really good and know your machine is holding you back then it's time to upgrade.



My next purchase will be a rotary. Mostly for friends cars. I am past the need on mine. I could have saved a lot of time with one on some sections.
