Hi JCrawford,

I think you will find many suggestions and recommendations here on Autopia. First place to look would be to use the search feature. I know you will find a wealth of information. This topic has been brought up many times.

Happy Detailing.

Hey Ranney,

by the way, i just got two waffle weave towels from you guys and used it the other day. it 's awesome. you guys make some good products.

JCrawford, I use the 7.5" LC pads from TOTL with the 6" backing plate and 6" counterweight without any problems. Get 6 for $45. 2 of each or whatever combo you need. You might get better "control" with 6" pads, but for tight areas, I just did those by hand.

Different needs require different pads. General use the 7.5 Lake Country pads were fine for me. If I needed some concentrated work on heavier swirl or micro-scratches I used 6". For tight areas 4" I'm told is a good way to go.

Speaking of which, I want to buy a 3.5" backing plate and 4" pads. Any recommendations?

Also.. what's with the orange pad on CMA? They make it sound like it's more extreme.. at least more special.. than a yellow pad. True?

I have the yellow and the orange pads. I didn't see any real difference between the two. Perhaps,as CMA claims, longevity is the advantage of the orange pads. I think they claim they last a real long time making them the choice of pads used on car assembly lines.

where is the best place to get orange pads? I tried TOTL but they only have yellow, black and white. Any recommendations?
