PC pads on a rotary?????

The larger pad on a rotary will produce more heat and remove defects faster. The spindle speed doesn't change for a different pad size however the farther you move away from the spindle (larger pad) the faster the outer speed is.

on a PC they are more aggressive. because they moter and move them easier. On the rotary it's the opisite the larger 8-9 inch pads are the ones you have to watch out for

Yeah, this is why I have 6.5" pads on both the PC and rotary understanding that if I'm going to use the rotary with them, I'll be sacrificing the machine's real potential for more safety.

OK if you want to try and look at it differently rollman think of it this way.. yes the speed of the machine will be the same but the amount of foam that will pass a given point will increase with a larger diameter pad. the more pad moving past the point them more cutting/heat/stuff is braking down.

The CE rotary is on sell again at harbor freight, so i'm gonna make the leap. I have several 6.5" meg's pads, but really want to try something else. So where can I find 6.5" pads for the rotary? Many 6.5" pads I see are designed to be used on the PC.

Any "PC" pads will work fine on the rotary. Actually it works the other way around- the PC is generally *harder* on pads (especially the velcro) than the rotary is. E.g., Meguiar's pads have a reputation for failing when used with the PC, but they last forever on the rotary.
