Patented Paint Sealant System

Hello everyone. I just purchased a brand new black car and was wondering the best way to treat the paint. I know that black is a difficult color to keep clean but looks when it is. I did not fall for the dealerships $800 Sym- Tech paint protection but did call some local detailers for quotes.

One of the local detailers offers a PPS paint protection system and uses a product called PPS. Its a two part application.

I'm thinking that the PPS system will help me keeping that black car shine effortlessly. I am also going to spray with Krown rust control which I have had great success with.

thanks.

Not knocking that system, as I don't know anything about it, but the best thing you can do to keep your car looking "new" (after a complete clay/polish routine to remove the factory and dealership blemishes which are almost positively there) would be to learn proper wash technique using the correct wash shampoo and media.

I'll second this, learn how to care for your car by reading threads on this site, and you will have a clean and shinny car for its life.

Get Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 Permanent Paint Coating @ $59.99 and then pocket the remaining $740.01 to get more detailing supplies at the Autopia Car Care Store. That to me is priceless and smart.:welcome:

how much is the detailer charging for the pps? i found it online its made by 5 star and costs $70 but i never heard of it before i googled it. i would go with system-x(cheapest nano coating), opti-coat 2.0, or c-quartz those 3 i bet will be way better then that pps system and its easy to apply, however you paint must be polished before application. the coatings really just protect your paint like a wax would except semi-permanent. it will protect from swirls only a slight bit, but it will make it easier to clean, and keep a great shine however it can still get swirled up and will still show swirls easy.black paint is not just a color, its a career!

oh god dont fall for the "teflon" scam! teflon does not bond to paint like most think, teflon(PTFE) needs high heat for it to bond that's why its on cookware. and for almost 300$ you could buy opti-coat and plenty of other products. dont waste your money on that detailers scam.opti-coat is said to last 2 years, and someone claiming 7 years for paint protection i find is full of it there is just no way a product can last 7 years other then maybe getting your car recleared.and about the other detailer, permanon is a decent product from my reading but why would you put it over a paint sealant is my question as if its a coating it needs clean paint to bond to. i honestly would not waste your money with going to a detailer for this unless you find one from these boards, or take the money you would spend buy a portercable or griots polisher kit with some polishes and a order of opti-coat. then you could make your money back by opticoating a friends car for about 200$ and then charge for the polishing and make all your money back ;) good luck to you!

Actually I believe OC is permanent...not 2 yr durability.

PPS is actualy on of the best paint sealants I have ever tested; and I have tested many.

But I would do as suggested above and go for the OC routine.

That stuff has been around a looong time. I've never used it myself but do question the use of PTFE in the mix. It could be the best thing since printed money but the long term durability claims make me question it big time. Forget about "effortlessly" taking care of a black car......that's comedy right?

+++ Opti-Coat 2.0. You'll be amazed. I use it and I'm handicapped so I was in search of the bext low maintainence permanent sealant. Been on my truck for 6 months and appears as good as applied. With black you will need considerable prep and then the 2.0 for the final coat...Good Luck....Steve

I would pass on the detailer's PPS system....See if you can find somebody on the forum around you that you can take your car to for Opti-coat...It's a good thing you didn't fall for the $700 dealership one, I can't understand why some people bite for that...I charge $150 for a 1-step & interior detail. They could have their car done 4 times for the price of that dealership scam!! Good luck with whatever you choose, be sure to keep us updated.

First-and no offense-by the post you listed you don't know enough to do this yourself without alot of homework and practice. I made a similar post 4 years ago when I purchased a black M35X.

If you let the board know where you live a pro can be reccommended and if it were my black car that I owned, I would get a permanent coating like Optiguard or A or C Quartz applied by a reputable professional detailer with alot of positive posts on this site. If the polishing of the paint is not done to perfection you are locking in defects that are extreemly difficult to remove.

See the post today by street dreams on the blue GTR. If you are anywhere near NJ call him. His work is textbook and if you read his posts he clearly explains each step and shares the why and products used. There are alot of good guys who post here and on other sites but his work stands out as consistant and over the top time after time.

Good Luck and what kind of car did you get. Enjoy it. Try to read up really quickly on who to wash with a 2 bucket method so you dont swirl it up before you get it detailed!

I have a customer who actually writes the warranties for those dealerships. He pushes xylon as the protection. It's all about the paperwork since no one returns their cars or follows up with the required maintinance every six months to keep the contract valid. He makes a ton of money on these paint and wheels warranties.

But he brings me his cars and I put Opticoat on all of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they should be all anyone needs to hear!
