Park Avenue Detailing: My New Vehicle 2008 Cobalt

I got rid of my GTI, for this Cobalt LT.

As always I avoided the dealership hack job by having it delivered dirty.

I just did a quick job on it as I didn't have much time today to do the works, i have to go over the hood/trunk which have some deeper scratches. I also debadged the Cobalt LT off the trunk and removed the silly square GM badges on the sides.

Process:

Meg's WB on Wheel's

EZ Detail Brush barrels

Degreased wheel wells

Engine Wipe Down

CD2 Detailer Engine

Foam (Sunlight, Shampoo Plus, DP Foam) hehe

Wash with Shampoo Plus

Clay

PO106FF with Green CCS via Flex

Souveran by hand

Yup, I was a little hesitant as it mutes the flake in some cases but it was a toss up between Collinite 845 (which makes metallic's pop) and Souveran..... I figured what the hell cheap car, expensive wax. I had some guy in an Audi stare at the car when I left to go pick up my girlfriend. I wonder what he was thinking?

Unfortunately it poured so after..I bet you could tell by the clouds in the last couple of pictures..

It's just the 1SB package. Fogs, power everything, 16" wheels, leather steering wheel.

Saved a good penny too with the GM Employee Discount.

Yeah, I was thinkin the same thing here. GTI -> Cobalt shold get you a slap on the wrist. My gf has a 05 Cobalt and it just doesnt hold up as well as the imports.

Still, that has to be the best red i've seen in a while.

Nice new car. :)

I own a Pontiac G5 since 2005 (well, it's actually a Pursuit, not a G5) and I still love it like day one. I did not have any major issue with it in 70 000 km. It is just like your Cobalt, same rims, but I don't have the sunroof, no Pioneer and it is black.

Must feel like a downgrade coming from a GTI though.

I am sad to see you got rid of the GTI, that car was wicked. What made you go from a wicked GTI to a Cobalt???

$300 cheaper per month.

Cheaper on fuel

Cheaper maintenance

My girlfriend can drive it (auto)

I already have my toy (turbo buick)

bunch of reasons.

Well, he did mention employee discount. That definitely sweetens the deal. $300 a month cheaper?! That sounds like a no brainer. Even if it only lasts two years, $300 a month for two years is a nice down payment on a new car and with GM Employee discount, he can get another GM at a great deal.

Nice job on the car though. It looks great. Souveran rules doesn't it? It's almost ridiculous it's so easy to use too.

As soon as I detail my Cobalt I'll post pics.

I don't know if you'd be interested in this sort of thing, but I'd recommend getting a set of stock springs off the SS Supercharged or new SS Turbocharged. It's not much of a drop but it helps fix the factory wheel gap especially in the rear.
