Painting or Polishing wheels??

Hi. I'm pretty much new to the world of detailing. I had a question about painting my wheels, and my friend pointed me to this website. I tried searching for an answer to my specific problem, but wasn't able to.

Below is a picture of my wheels. One of the wheel (on the left) is lacking that "clear coat" shine. I would like to somehow add that shine back. The wheel on the right is how I would like it to look.

If anyone is familar with that particular wheel, it comes off the new GSR Integras.

I have access to a Porter Cable 7424. Is there is abrasive polish pad that I can use on the polishing that will give it the shine? Or am I going to have to spray a coat of clear on it? Either way, what supplies will I need?

I also would like to attack this project myself, instead of paying a shop to do it.

Thanks in advance.

William

First of all have you tried some polish by hand? I have BBS rims on my car and the lip is shiny and clearcoated. When I first got them they looked terrible (2nd hand), polish (Autoglym Super Resin) and sealant (also Autoglym) seemed to help a lot.

Check the owner's manual,or other source, those seem to be polished aluminum alloy wheels...

If that is the case, you'd want to polish, not paint.
