This one will get some comments. :)
Easy Off Oven Cleaner will do it with most painted on signs on commercial vehicles. Spray it on, as soon as the lettering starts to soften, wipe it off.
Wash the area as soon as you have finished, polish and apply your LSP.
You will probably still have the outline of the letters since the paint under the sign didn't fade like the rest of the vehicle. Usually it will polish out, but not always.

No they are not clearcoated. yeah some one did tell me about using oven cleaner but just wanted to make sure it was safe to use and also that it worked. I'll give it a try thanks for the help.
