Paint sealant?

I just bought a 2010 Graphite Gray Subaru Legacy. It looks great but my problem is, every time I wash it, and no matter how fast I dry it, there are always water spots. I usually have to buff them out with my UDM. So my question is, would a paint sealant help with my problem, and if so what is a good paint sealer?

Thanks.

The paint sealant won't help. Are you washing in direct sunlight? I can't imagine water drying so fast that you can't get the whole car dry.

Meguiars M21 also is very good at sheeting nearly dry. Are you using the "soaker" method after your final rinse?

Remove all nozzels from your hoze, turn water on and pour running water straight from the hose onto the car. Start at the top of the car and work your way down.

Using that after my final rinse probably gets my car 70% dryer than by doing a normal rinse. This makes it very quick and easy to do the final drying (5 minutes to dry the entire car).

Z1 paint sealant based out of california, weve been testing it for 2 years against many of the "best" sealants out there, and it is insanely good. its the only one we use on details now. Bullet proof sealant, easier to remove than p21s. depth is great too, looks like you added a mil of clearcoat to the paint.

Wash your car with ONR.

This.

Using ONR allows you to wash the car in the garage, so you are out of the sun.

Even if you have to wash outside, using ONR allows you to do a single panel at a time and dry it immediately, thereby precluding any water spots from developing.

It used to happen to me regularly before I started using ONR which allowed me to wash inside my garage. Having hard water didn't help. I would even try to keep the whole car wet by spraying water on the other side of the car while I was washing on the opposite side. I would still get water spots that I had to remove immediately with an instant detailer.

I divide my car into 5 sections and wash/rinse/dry each section before moving onto the next. Never any spotting.

I developed this method when I owned a solid back car in a really dry climate.

I hear a lot about the ONR, but what exactly is this?

Welcome to Autopia. There is more info on ONR here than you would ever want to know, start with a search. For a description of the product look on the Optimum site.

If you have some hard water spots, you will need to remove them by polishing before reapplying a paint sealant. Once the ringlet of the water spot is there, even with a paint sealant on, water will always collect there.

yeah I was going to say something to what John just said...

maybe you arent completely removing the water spots in the first place and they are just re-appearing
